Is the Nobelium essentially a Noble-ish Clone?

If so, I'm considering buying the circuit and giving it a go.

I haven't participated in this thread in a while, but I think the last thing I said was that if the bassman preamps were ever available, I would get one, so here I am putting my money, and time where my mouth is.

Assuming we don't get cancelled for snow I have a gig tomorrow and I think I'll switch my London Underground X out for the bassdude.

For instructions that have a warning at the beginning, I couldn't believe how easy the build was. There are probably some things that it helps to have under your belt, but the layout was so much more intuitive than some other PCBs I've put together.

Any chance you could record it through a (neutral) interface?

unfortunately, i don't record with an interface. i just use a Zoom H4n in front of my amp.

The H4n fixed everything that was annoying about the H4, and I loved that one too. Best thing though, I’ve used mine for hundreds of hours and the record and playback heads show zero wear!

Yes sir. In a mix you would never know. I put the More in front of it and it's pretty damn great.

Awesome, thanks for that! I run the More into a Khan VTDI right now and love it! However, I didn't own the Khan & the Noble at the same time so have never done a side by side comparison. I feel like I like the Khan better, but honestly aural memory is very sketchy.

It's been a while since I broke out the soldering iron, so I think this will be a good project to get back into it. If only the enclosures were in stock right now I'd pull the trigger today.

Looks great, nicely done! It's definitely a cool project, I like how the circuit sounds.

I've had a couple people ask me if I would consider doing a run of Sushi Box-built Bassdudes for people to purchase, and I'm thinking about it. NAMM is kind of overwhelming the planning center of my brain right now though, so I'm not ready to think too much about it.

Thanks so much for that! I would like to try one with my P bass, flats, string mute and finger style. I have a feeling it could be better than my UA and, maybe even my Bassdude/Reaper plugin. Time will tell.

Out of curiosity, why isn't the BassDude a regular production pedal? Is it too similar to something else in the line up?

While not exactly the same thing, it has tonal overlap with Underground Accelerator. Bassdude is obviously a Fender design, and Underground Accelerator's roots are also Fender-ish in origin. Bassdude just has an extra gainstage over UA so it can get more drive, and it uses the vintage 2-band tonestack instead of the more common 3-band.

Here's the current config of my board. I love the little Nu-X...only 9x12" footprint and holds all I want with CIOKS SOL underneath. Funny thing is that although I use the tubey Dreamcatcher for my main 2 sounds (bass boost with minimal OD vs bass & treble boost with a bit more gain), for the occasional shift into face-melting/ sawtooth territory I add the solid state Guptech Bass Bone at the end.

I have a Weller soldering gun (dual wattage 200/450), which is fine for any guitar work that needs to be done, but I feel it would be overkill for any board work.

I use the Hakko FX888.

Gun tips are usually too big for board work.
