Yeah, I've definitely put a lot of effort into dialing in that PBass tone over the past 5 or 6 years, trying different sets of flats and swapping out pickups and different string heights and refining my technique. I've also moved through the original and DI versions of the VT Bass pedal and the Two Notes LeBass. Each step got me closer, but I feel like the Finally gave me the grit and tube compression that I needed to glue it all together.

It works great with my 70's Jazz as well - I started playing with Grinder Blues guitarist Jabo Bihlman for his solo gigs at the end of last year, and about three gigs in I brought my Jazz and put the Finally in between the bass and amp and he was over the moon about the tone I was getting both in the house and out of my rig.

Wow, ok, you might have sold me on the Finally, def similarities in our tone journey. I am currently playing around with slampegg into vtdi into a qstrip, feels like too many eq's! I've used the Arkham Bullet, Boss Organ custom tube pre, and Olympic pre, but haven't gotten exactly to where I want to be (p with flats). I'm trying to cop a Chris Wood meets John Kahn kind of sound. I shall try the Finally!

Tell us about Li'l Ampy 3. When you get time of course.

Not a whole lot to tell, it's an all-tube bass headphone amp with a 12AU7 preamp and a 12BH7 power amp, theoretically puts out about 3W per channel in stereo from a mono input. 3D printed bracket attached to the back to hang headphones. No aux in, no aux out, designed 100% for trying out pedals and sounding good doing it.

It is wintergreen, and it’s true. It’s easy enough to verify. All you need is a room with a mirror that can get dark. And they need to be fresh, when they get too old they get too soft.

Next thing someone is going to ask about fart ignition.
