Actually soundwise it would have.
I put this in another thread but long story short, when i got the cab home i plugged in and we were recording a demo at the time.
I had the front PUP full up, no EQ on the bass, slight low end boost on the amp (ignore the settings in the picture) and played very lightly over the start of the neck. we were trying to get an upright sound. when ever i played around the 5th fret on the low B string there was a very loud vibrating/flapping sound coming from inside the cab. It was louder than the notes. Backing off the lows a bit helped but i felt it might not handle much higher levels (master was on 1.5) at a gig.
Took it back and got the 1x15. no problems with that.

A small cab will only put out so much volume, so your experience makes total sense. The cool thing is, the larger cabs that sound so full and powerful, like your new Epi212UL, now weigh less than the small cabs did 10 years ago. Cool!

Edit: Isn't the Markbass voicing beautiful with the EpiUL's... just wonderful IMO!

You're making me want to switch back to black grills on my Bergs so I can have a rig that looks just like yours! The chrome ones are pretty flashy, but nice - while the new black ones are pure class. Tough call...

I'd like to see pictures with the chrome covers too!

More likely, it's a relative LACK of voicing that makes them attractive. Someone in the design department isn't second-guessing you on what EQ you might be likely to use, or trying to make their product seem show-room superior with some trick contouring.

I consider this trend attractive (wonderful).

Ken , you advised me befire with the UL112 problem and i still cant get my head around it as volume wise it was very very low, so what worried me was that at gigs i would of course turn it but but i think you did try and expelain it at the time.
But after that i decided i wanted bigger, but still smalll light cabs. The UL115 is wonderful. very bright and i can get a good twang from it if needed but as the UL212 is a bit bigger im hopeing the lows will be fuller. That to me sounds back to front but i know thats how it works.
I must say every cab i have had sinse i got the SA450 has sounded good (apart from the MB 151P IMHO). Even my cheap Ashdown 1x15 deep sounds good with this amp.
I only really went for a GK head to try and get a bit of charactor back in my tone but to be honest i like the SA450 better. Just wish i could afford the SD800. That would be a perfect match for the UL212.
Maybe one day.

That's a great rig you have, and that LMII/SA450 voicing just works SO well with the Epi cabs... I don't think you are going to be missing much if you don't play stupid loud.

Interesting on the Markbass cabs... not much good being said about them at the moment, for the most part. But the heads sure do kick it.

I'm really happy with my LMII pushing my Epi cabs! Gigs are slow right now, but I'll have a couple practices this month - couple gigs next month.

Hey guys Im a proud owner of a CMD102P combo. I want to add an extension to add some volume. Im deciding between the 104HR and the 104HF. I do like to have plenty of low end (HF) but I also like the sealed size and look of the HR.

My question is, since the CMD102P is already front ported, would I still get plentiful low end from the HR (since its rear ported)? Its for a rock band with two guitarists.

Side question. Has anyone here tried to combine their CMD102P combo with a 4x10 extension? What were your results?

I think it was rear ported.
I just found it lacking in mids. It was nice in the very low dept and i would say it would be good with another cab but on its own i just found i ran out of volume very quickly and had no punch. when i took it back to the shop (this was after two gigs and big thank you to the Gallery for taking it back) we plugged in to a LMII and compared the 151P to the UL115. wow, what a difference. the UL115 sounded like a full rig compared to the 151P.

Ken, yes i think i have finaly found MY rig. Size is just right. not too small, not too big. 4ohms so ill get the full output, not that ill need it but im struggling a bit keeping my GK clean so every little helps. plus its 103db vs 100db so i guess that might make a very small difference. And having the 12''s means a bit more punch and maybe even low end.
All in all im happy but of course ive not gigged it yet so it can all go wrong (altrhough i doubt it)

What about the 102HF? I think that would be a good ex cab for your CMD102. A friend of mine testet this today, and he was very impressed

Hmm,, had my eye on the front ported MB 15" , But I'll look around to find a UL115 somewhere to try out.

Dont forget we all have different ears. you may like it. i had a few people tell me how good it was before i got mine. i just didnt like it.
For a one cab rig it just didnt cut it at the two gigs i played and i felt that i couldnt get anymore volume out of the amp. The master was on half and when i strated to turn it up the sound just got more compressed without getting louder.
I guess the small size of the cab is also a limmiting factor.
Funny thing was before i got it i had used a Ashdown MAG 1x15deep and even thought that sounded fuller even though the spec are way behind the 151P apart form the low freq.

+1... it's up on the site now. Fancy with all that automatic tube biasing, checking, etc. It looks a lot better than the earlier prototypes that were floating around. Nice!!!!

I'm also totally digging the way they are putting different front ends on their power sections... clean tube sound, rock tube sound, ultra clean class D sound, warm SS sound, etc. Very clever, and I assume a great way to keep production simple and costs down, but using many similar components across units.

I'm usually Mr. Skeptic, but these guys are blowing me away. Now, they need to get the cabs up to snuff (at least from the reviews I've been reading).
