Holy crap. I just picked up an LM-II today. This is one of the most plug and play amps I've ever used! I just leave everything flat and the filters off and it's tone for days! The VLE is really cool for some big fat dub tones but I can't see myself using the VPF much, still cool to have though! And oh my god, so small and light!

I also played the Micromark today and that thing BLEW me away! It pommels any other smaller combo and is about half the size. It somehow managed to fill the room I was playing! Quite expensive but nonetheless amazing!

After a little tweaking on the VLE and VPF, I am ASTOUNDED at the sounds i am getting. I expected to be less than satisfied with it , and was blown away at the warm tubey sounds this solid state amp is putting out! I am now WAY SOLD on the Markbass head! Unreal! I just had to slow down and and twist knobs a little less. A little adjustment seems to go a long way on the Markbass. It does a great job of powering my Trace stack, i gotta go now, wanna play with my new toy some more!

Understood. The knob thing has hit a few people... for example, early on, whenever someone said something like the LMII has no highs, we knew what the cuplrit was:D. You can screw up the sound of this amp if the controls are misunderstood.

Start with EQ flat, voicing controls off. Pump it. Now tweak if necessary.

Funny thing is, that's what I do with every amp before I get familiar with it. I think it's great advice. The amps I like the most are the ones I have to tweak the least to get a pleasing basic sound. I don't have to tweak the LMII at all... that makes for a ridiculously short setup time live, which is what I was used to with my other amps.

At some point I expect to turn around on a gig and see my LMII floating.

Plenty of what I would call that complex zingy tone that Marcus Miller has. I could NEVER get that sound from my old amp. Can a good amp improve your playing??...........probably not but I've been practicing a lot more. Can a good amp make a half assed player sound better???..........YUP!!! :D :bassist:

Most of my basses are strung with Fat Beams and my live sound is sick.

If you sound better you most definitely can be inspired to play better IMO.

Yea Brad, sounds pretty damn good flat! My personal mistake was to go right ahead and scoop the mids heavily! Did not dig that so i screwed with the VPF and VLE knobs... backwards further! So today i set her flat...played ...cut the mids just a bit....played..... added a little VLE(9:00)...played....added a little VPF(8:00).... boosted the highs ever so slightly (1:00).....MY PERFECT SOUND...At least for me and the Schecter studio 5! My Warwick sounds great at FLAT all the way.... with room to play around on the E.Q.!.... Here is another MAJOR problem with this amp...... Will make me G.A.S. further..I want a 5-string Warwick even more now!!!!

The sound is simply amazing. The Fender Lyte sounds really pure and clean. Harmonics sing, chords chime and clarity is in abundance. I'm so happy.

Got the head from Bass Centre in London for £299. The Schroeder cabinet was ordered from BassCentral.com at $495 after a recommendation on the TB forums. Original shipping quote was $295 :eek: But I haggled them down to $175 after proving that other companies were charging substantialy less for heavier items. They even but a lower price on the shipping label so duty came to £48. So approximately £370-400 all in.

*sigh* Yeah, and it's a real bad time for me to be buying stuff right now, but I'm going through a "rig review" phase right now and the accolades are driving me crazy... :)

Besides, I'd like to have a smallish ultra-light head for things (tried the WTX260 for this and it just didn't quite have enough oomph), and this sounds like the ticket.

I also anticipate prices going up on these if they really take off, which it sounds like they could... also, being made in Italy, exchange rates are not favoring the USD these days...

That'd actually be the opposite of headroom :p

Cool micro rig. I've always thought the Fender P-lyte was an underrated bass- I'm not really a Fender fan, but I used to love my friend's P-lyte.
