The Top Ten Things I Learned From Talkbass

I learned that even people who post a ton, and give lots of "advice" can still be terrible bassists.
The only bass is a P bass with flats.
A 200 watt SS amp is as loud as a 200 watt tube amp
Jaco is god and Les Claypool is awful
Jazz is superior to all other forms of music
Chicks don't dig Rush
Carrots are better than most basses, cabs, and amps.
Tone has nothing to do with your gear, it's all in your hands
If you buy a Chinese knock off, you're taking money out of Ric/Fodera's/etc pockets, and you're a terrible person.
Guitarist are all idiots and their amps are too loud.
70% of TB'ers know more about amps than a guy who builds/designs them.
Lined fretless basses are sacrilege.
TORT!

10. Fenders play, sound, and feel better than any other bass, even better than those that play, sound, & feel better than a Fender.

9. If people knew how to search, there would be no more posts on TB.

8. Mixed speaker cabs cannot sound good, period, no matter how they sound.

7. The only difference in 6", 10", 12", 15", & 18" speakers are their diameter not their sound.

6. Flat wounds are a fad that popped up in the early 50's, but will fade away soon.

5. A "watt" is a unit measure for power in an electric circuit in which the potential difference is 1 volt and the current is 1 ampere, but depending on the amplification method, come in 64 different colors.

4. Vintage = good, except in strings. Vintage strings can be new again by soaking in chicken soup and jalapeño juice.

3. Neck dive seems to be caused by putting the heaviest metal parts of a bass at the far end of the neck, but new designs with tuners on the body attract meteors that will destroy the earth.

2. Early Fender bass pickups used a type of copper and magnets that were depleted from the earth in 1965 and cannot be duplicated with available copper and magnets.

1. Bassists are of a personality type that attracts either angels or demons as a mate. The mate can initially be either one, but can morph into the other at any given time.

1. American Fenders are the greatest. They suck.
2. Squier's are fantastic. They suck.
3. Price is no indication of quality. You get what you pay for.
4. You can buy several cheap basses for the price of one expensive one. Win!
5. You can buy one expensive bass for the price of several cheap ones. Win!
6. Flat wounds are awesome and suck.
7. A P/J is the best of both worlds. It is a Frankenstein's monster that sounds like neither a P nor a J.

The best bass for all situations in a Precision. It must have flats.
In other situations, you're gonna want a Jazz with rounds.
For all other situations, you need a Fodera.

It is better to not mix speakers than it is to buy from Alibaba.
Unless you account for comb filtering. If you have done this, it is better to not buy from Alibaba.
Otherwise you may find your accounts have been combed through and filtered of cash.

There are many acceptable Fender copies, but there are no acceptable Fodera copies.

Regardless of how unappealing they may be, there is nothing better than tort and 'bursts.

Flying V basses are just plain big.

2. Lights are pretty. Grils are not.

From TalkBass, I learned it's more fun to make money and buy expensive Basses and Gear, and then ask questions about the expensive Basses and Gear I bought, which makes me feel like a better person than all people who ask questions after they buy cheap gear, and cheap basses, trying to repair them or bring them up to the "expensive gear" Class.
