Just woundering what frequencies the Pre Shape Button drops and boosts. I think it boosts low and highs and cuts the mid. If you have it turned off what gets boosted and cut etc cheers
Well, this is straight from the Trace Elliot SMX manual:

PRE SHAPE 1 is the classic TRACE ELLIOT EQ as found on Series 6 units, it adds a boost at both the
low end (50Hz) and the high end (2 to 5kHz) of the frequency spectrum as well as a cut at mid
frequencies (400Hz).
PRE SHAPE 2 is a more rock orientated equalisation providing a wider bandwidth boost at low frequencies, less of a mid cut
and a slight boost at higher frequencies. This is a less extreme EQ than PRE SHAPE 1.
Preshape 1 is what you will find on all Trace Elliot heads with the Preshape feature. Preshape 2 is found only on the SMX series.

Does anyone have a copy of the GP12 Manual?

Also whats the difference between the Series 6 GP12X, and the GP12SMX?

Read the two manuals and you will quickly find the differences.

Just a quick note, remember there are two GP12X series, the early Series 6 and the very modern GP12X that was the last pre made before production ceased. They are very different beasts, I'm on the hunt for a newer one, I love the options it has.

So, I had the opportunity to play a couple of set's last night with an AH600 and two Trace 4x10 cabs...a friend just picked it up in Orlando for $1,100.

That thing is a no excuses, all pro all the time bass rig.

Mucho impressive.

Actually, thats not quite right. The early GP12X was the model number for the rackmountable Series 6 preamp only. The later Gibson era GP12X was what the actually preamp series was named. I know I have referred to the early one as a an X series as well on occasion. I guess I should stop doing that.

What do you guys think of the TE V-Type 300H Hybrid head (for sale at BAS) ?
I'm thinking about getting myself a new amp and thought it looked interesting.

I really don't need a lot of power so 300W would definately be more than enough.

Thanks..It just arrived today. It's not the one that BAS had for sale on ebay... but it's a different NOS one they had. It took me 30 minutes to get it out of the box. Great packagaing job.. (and the packing peanuts were... GREEN!!!)

So far I've only had it on for about 2 minutes... but it was a SWEET 2 minutes... deep... loud... thunderous lows... I didn't even try any high end... I'll give it a workout later.!!

There are *still* NOS V-Type units available? Man, that's awesome!

I got my V-Type head and V-Type pre, both NOS, from Guitar Ressurection in TX a couple of years ago. $750 for the head, and $500 for the pre (I know, the pre was a bit expensive, considering what they go for on eBay, but I wanted the NOS one). I also used to have a used V-Type head that I got from eBay, but I resold it on eBay after I bought my SWR rig.

Hesuses,

I got one of those NOS V300H heads from Brit. I got it as a back-up for my V6. I have done two gigs on it now, one small, one larger, and it has LOTS of power and booty. I think that TE's 280 watt rating is VERY conservative.

The preamp, of course, is a wonderful thing. And I was pleasantly suprised by the quality of the power amp section -- and I have been able to directly compare it to my V6.

I think it's a great buy -- how many new PRO-quality heads can you find for $450? That's usually Har**e or other Chi**se amps territory. Last time I looked at the site they had a V600H as well.

I don't want to offend Har**ke owners, but hey, this is a Trace thread -- sorry.

Can I get some good advice. Should I sell my Yorkville xs800h for this NOS V-type 600?

I have a Aggie 4x12 cap (1200 watts) and the Yorkville just doesn't do it for me. It's ok, but I'd like a different tone, from what I've been reading the Trace Elliots may be what I'm looking for in the price range, like to stay under 1K.

I have it and its a really great amp! I bought it for $420. It sure is loud enough for gigs and band practice!
here's a pic of it:

Trace Twin Valve on ebay.at (Austria)
might go very cheap

http://cgi.ebay.at/Trace-Elliot-Twin-Valve_W0QQitemZ7358763475QQcategoryZ47614QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

very tempting, and Wien is close to Bratislava. Damn. GAS. I don't need it. I don't need it. I don't need it.... :help:

i got my v-type 220 from the very same guy, he sends his stuff through all of europe, decently packed and not expensive. i'm not so certain of the idea this is going to be a bargain though... last twinvalve went for almost the same price as my v-type... around 400 euros iirc... he also has got a very tempting brightbox by the way, 4x5" speakercab...

3 days remaining. It will go higher that's for sure. I was interested in ah 300-12 Series 6 on ebay.at, but I didn't want to give more than 300 euro for it. Ended on 351, which is still nice price for such anice amp, but I don't need another amp. :D
