Bump.

I've had my GP12 SMX 4-10 combo (the older one, a '95 me thinks??) and love it. I power two other 2x15" cabs with it and it doesn't break a sweat. It really improved my sound. I'm not sure what all the hype is surrounding cabs that produce the "exact sound of your bass" so I guess I'm a Trace 'coloration' fan now. After my last gig with it I checked the sound board of my church's PA and my line was set virtually flat. On the amp I use some low compression, some tube blend, and the #1 orig. Trace pre-shape. What a great sound, and the PA is reproducing my amp sound verbatim. Does that count for anything??

Anyway, just thought I'd post.

hi everybody, nice to know im not the last trace elliot fan :) .

but im little confused...when was the gibson take over happened ?
i own the GP7SM 150w RMS combo - is it a pre or post gibson amp ? (behind the amp i see 2001 under model)

Its not pre or post Gibson anymore since Trace is back in business! ;) With a date of 2001 your amp would be from the Gibson era. Nothing wrong with that though.

The Gibson buyout took place on October 2, 1998.

yeah ! i saw the new website...hope it's gonna be as good as it was.
actually im pretty ok with the amp being made in 2001 because that's the year i bought it (used). :)
BTW i still have the 99/2000 catalog in a great condition...i don't usally keep stuff but i dig this catalog for some reason.

I was seriously jonesing for an MP11 about 10 yrs ago... Mark King used to use these and (I think) The Ox, as well. Gotta love the MIDI-control, even though they're big suckers (i.e. physical size). I seem to recall that least one TB'er (Tom?) has one, and had good things to say about its sound, but I'm not positive.

Aight, I reckon itll be cool if everyone posted up their eq on here. Not the bass mid treble knobs, but the actual graphic eq with the sliders(this sounds n00b I know its very early in the morning) just so we can see the varying types of sound you can get with these great amps

I gigged with my 4052H (4x5 "Bright Box") this past Saturday, and was very impressed. While I had used it in practice - and therefore had an idea of what it is about - this was my first time trying it on a gig, and it really did a great job of providing some added clarity and cut. I like my NV215 a lot, and it has very good clarity on its own, but the Bright Box just added to a good thing. Here's a shot:

Hey people, I got a TE ah3007 into two TE 4x10s(1 with tweeter) and i have the Mike Dirnt bass.

I have had this amp head for while and for the past year or so I have been really trying to get the sound and tone I would like. I have gone through many different Eq shapes etc and I cant quiet seem to find one I like. Its not the MD bass as I have played it through other amps and stacks and it sounds great. Im thinking its possibly the way I have my Eq on my head. I think i need a bit of help trying to get the sound I want, with examples etc. I read through that Eq thread talking about the freqency range etc but Im still stuck.

The sound Im looking for is a nice warm middley sound with not a lot of that hissy high end, around 5k i believe. That would also be able to cut through two guitars(both using marshalls etc with one cab each) and a drummer. Any help would be greatful. Heres whats on my amp head:

Gain
Pre shape
Eq - 50hz 100hz 250hz 500hz 1khz 2khz 5khz
Compression.
Volume

Heres the settings I have now to give you an idea,

Gain about 12 o clock

Pre shape off (as it cuts the mids and you need mids in a band)

Eq 50hz(about +2) 100hz(+3) 250hz(+3)500hz 1khz 2khz and 5khz all flat

Compression about 12 o clock

on my bass i have volume and tone on max

Any help will be greatful

@tombowlus: wow, didn't know you had one of those as well. i haven't been succesful at winning a bright box at ebay, but they're there every now and then. because i don't know whether i really want one, i just didn't try hard enough yet.
anyway, do you think it's more useful/better sounding than a tweeter? i'm a fan of 410's with no tweeter. i play in a rock-trio, with lots of space for the bassguitar. playing with pick and fingerstyle. current setup trace v-type/1048/2x12". would you say the brightbox could be interesting for me?

btw. what a setup you've got...
