It seems like some of the prices on Bright Boxes have been out of control, but for a decent price, I would think that it would be worth checking out. It really does add good, usable upper midrange and high end clarity (and it's pretty loud, too!), without adding any harshness.

Really excellent. I think that maybe the Bright Box with the NV215 was what made by Fulltone sound the best that it ever has. No harsh tweeters, and plenty of cut, bite and punch.

That is the one piece of equipment you own that I totally envy you for.

You can see why I have been searching for one to add to my 215. They are a perfect fit together.

Anyone ever see one of these odd beasts?

It's a BLX-SMC combo with a 10" speaker and the tweeter... 150 Watts. (Seen on top of my Mesa/Eden 410)

It's a great amp, but it needs a midrange speaker.

According to my brother, when he was on the scene initially (10-15 years ago) those were the entry level Trace and quite a few younger players owned them. He seemed to think they were ok but that the more expensive TE gear of the time was better.

I'm not so sure how entry level it is... they did make much smaller practice amps at the time... this is one of their regular 7 band 150 Watt SMC heads in this odd BLX combo enclosure. This was designed for upright bass... that's what the review in Bass Player said at the time. The way the enclosure is ported makes it seem much larger. The was first released in 1998. This is a pre Gibson TE... made in the UK.

It gets a TON of bottom... most people can't believe all that bass is coming from such a small amp. What it's lacking is mids... it has a boxy midrange sound, common to folded horn enclosures. The tweeter is great though!

I did a couple of shows in rather large theaters with this amp, both with, and without the Mesa 4X10, and this little sucker kicks serious butt!

I bought this used about two years ago. Best $300 I ever spent.
