Hey congratulations on your BLX-80! I have a BLX-SMC 150. It has a tweeter, which these little amps really need. The only problem I have with it is the way the cab is made, is you don't get much mids, so I'm either going to add a 6" mid speaker or just sell the thing and get something else.

Attn:

Anyone in the vincinity of the East Brunswick NJ Guitar Center on Rt.18, there's a killer Trace 2x15 & GSP12 head. The cab is obiviously used but great condition & cheap! The head is a bit high in price but you never know, $$$ talks & BS walks...

~S~

PS: I had a BLAST there today! I met Vinny Fodera's cousin in the "bass room"(he was passing through) amongst other great people, good conversations & fun time...very nice selection also...

Thnx DRM. You're right though. That's the one drawback I found with the BLX. Mids and highs don't get through as they should...

Luckily I mostley keep to the lower regions :p

It gets serious bottom end! The Fostex tweeter is great. It handles 100 Watts too.

The amp just needs some mids. My tone gets weak when I ply up on the neck. Has a very upright bass tone. The review of this amp when it came out in BassPlayer said it was designed for URB.

Nice combination. How was that 4x10 cabinet sounding? Ever compared it with other 4x10s?

It's a nice 4X10. It has Eden speakers in it... they used to make speakers before they made their own amps. The tweeter is blown though. The two together sound great! The Mesa fills in the missing mids. It's a very thick clean tone. VERY Loud for a 150 Watt amp too.

The Mesa cab is heavy... almost too heavy for me to lift by myself, which is why I hardly ever use it anymore. (The Mesa head is heavy too! 45 lbs!)

Hey guys, got my ah600smx and 4x10 finally! bought them off ebay, it turned out the seller was john giblin, who's played for simple minds and kate bush (amongst others). He was a really nice guy and we ended up chatting for ages about bass in general, then he pulls out a Yamaha BBN5, lets me play it for a bit, then says he bought it thinking it was another model on ebay, never plays it and asks if i would like to have it!

So awesome times in general!

The amp sounds awesome, just what I was after, haven't had a chance to try it out on a gig yet though, will keep you posted. oh yeah, and it looks soooo cool! :)

Those photos are all very nice, but I do love the mahogany body DeArmond Pilot 5 Deluxe!

So do I ;) I've had this for six years, and I think it's always gonna be my main bass, I love it! Just need to get a new pre and some nice pups in it...

Just for you tom:

Only problem is it's a very soft wood... I love it all the more for the battle scars :)

Thought Id chime in and show off my T.E. combo that I scored off of ebay. When I got it one of the speakers were busted and not even hooked up and according to Shane at British Audio Service none of the speakers were original. Based on his info this is a late 80's Mark IV combo with a GP 11 preamp. He also had the original speakers in stock for it. Speakers just came in today and it is super sweet now. Thanks to shane and those who recommended him!

Hey guys. I am a new member to the Trace Club. Just bought an old Trace Head 250 watts for 200 bucks and Im going tomorow to buy a 4x10 for the same price. PS at Gerald Veasleys Bass Bootcamp I got to see Doug Wimbish play (i sat about 2 feet in front of him) the new range of TE's! He has serial number 002 on his head and cabs. They are so nice sounding. Hes also got a spector 5 string serial number 009. Can you say hookups?

If anyone is in or near to the Chicago area, and if they still have it, there is a TE 1084 for sale at Andy's Pro Hire for $400!
It is a used backline cab but hey, these aren't easy to find! I wish I could afford the shipping as I would snap it up!
BTW, if anyone on here buys it, let us know!

Click on the 810 pic to go to their site.
