Just thought, maybe your rig might look a bit more balanced with the bright box on top of the cab then your head.
It does look unbalanced but how the Bright Box is made I can't just sit the head on top. I am thinking of making something to fill the space behind it so I can though. We'll see!

I see that. I do wonder why anybody would want a dispersion that basically sprays the ceiling and floor instead of going wider to the sides. But since the package isn't probably considered practical up on end on top of a poundin' rig - and the logos come in sideways placement - I can understand why a lot of people wouildn't question what it actually sounds like when you are a little farther away from the rig.

Back in my younger days I built something like that to put on top of the all-tube combo amp I used for my electic saxes, with a bunch of piezo tweeters - which are generally inefficient enough that it takes that many to get as loud as a single titanium tweeter/horn that's attenuated considerably. But since piezos don't need crossovers and I didn't have the slightest idea how sound actually disperses with multiple drivers it kinda did the job.

Thanks. I'm still gassing for that 8x10 by Trace... haven't found one. I still ask myself if it would sound better than my stacked Peavey 410TVX cabs (2)... Gas gas gas.

Shame you not located in the UK as there was one for sale on Ebay UK last week that sold for very little in comparison to other 8x10 cabs and Trace's other cab range. One thing I love about being the in UK.....We have all the Trace gear and not you!!! Which makes a change ;)

Hey, thanks for the info on the 1510!
I'm going to buy an ashdown ABM 410T to go with it (maybe)
Its just that whilst the 1510 has beeeeeuuuutiful low end, it lacks a bit in punch. Both Cabs are 8ohm and I thought the ashdown would be the best choice since its got 4 x 10" speakers, a tweeter and some of the engineers that worked at trace now work at ashdown. Is this a groovy idea?

Well I've been lurking around this thread (and this forum) for severall weeks now whilst seriously GASsing for some trace elliot gear. So now I think it's about time to post what I picked up NOS about a week ago.
-V-type 300H amp
-1248H cab
- SMX dual band compressor.
Man this sure sounds alot better then my old Roland studio bass 100.
I wonder if you guy's could maybe tell me what would be better putting the compressor in front of the pre-amp or in the effects loop.

Cheers Roel

Tom, I could be wrong, but that doesn't look like a 4x12 to me...
I know Trace had a lot of cabs, but all the 4x12s in that style all had silver grills... Also, they just don't like big cones!

still, VERY nice bargain!

Also about the power drop off - My current SMX has been going solidly. I had an older SMX AH250, and the preamp has failed, so I'm getting a huge dropoff, alas, I've still yet to bring it home and check it out for myself... You'll seldom have a reliability issue with a Trace!

Oh, and I AM so TEMPTED to go out and buy a brand new rig... Y'know, since I have the dough to purchass a 1kW rig... With a Trace badge.... Oooo... Ahhhh!! No! Bad GAS!!!

Why won't you people in the UK just offer to ship all your Trace gear over here.

I've seen quite a few things on Ebay UK of Trace stuff I want to get but no one wants to ship them! Poeple like you just make jealous. ;)

Hi people.

Can the baby of the bunch join this club too? This is my sweet little BLX-80 (sorry 'bout the blurry pic)

Have been gassing for Trace since I first heard one, but never had the cash to get into it. At least not the serious stuff anyway.

About 10 months ago I scored this little jem on ebay. Got it off a German guy and paid a whopping 161 EUR for it (= +/- 130 USD), which included transport. Thought that was a bit of a deal.

Anyway, I love it to bits. I bought it with the intention of just using it as a practice amp. But although it has only 80W it can really deliver some deep punches and so last time we gigged, I even used it on stage. Went through the PA off course, but I had it right next to me, tilted upwards as my own private monitor and it worked like a charm.

Thinking about using it more often to gig. Certainly on our next gig next week. In practicallity, it beats the hell out of my good old Peavy 115. The little Trace is much easier to get in and out of the car, even if it is a bit on the heavy side for such a small amp :)
