BTW, that Ebay add is a TB member. I wonder why he didn't advertise it on TB? :eyebrow:

I'd like to see the kinds of curves people are putting on their Trace's.

I've got a slight high-end boost set on mine. Between that curve and the pre-shape, I've got most bases covered for the rock gigs we do.

I find that the MMSR5 I use for our Top 40/Corporate gigs works best with no eq whatsoever.

So whether it's smiley faces, mountain ranges, hills and dales... what kinda profile do your sliders "trace"? :p

I have my Quatra and my SMX both set flat with the pre-shape. I only adjust if the venue's acoustics dictate the need.

Hey Kelly, does the pre-shape on your Quatra give you an aggresive, grindy sound with a ton of lows?

That's what I get on my pre. It's a very rockin' tone, but my previous experience with green-face Trace's told me to expect something closer to a Marcus slap sound. :eyebrow:

Could I be hearing the particulars of the tube that I've got in the pre right now? I swapped out the original Trace-branded tube for a Sovtek.

Not really "grindy" but it definately has a more aggresive tone with it than without IMO.

I couldn't really say as I never slap with it. I play with my fingers or a pick 99.9% of the time.

I have a big trace elliot back combo at home in England. I moved to Canada 3 years ago and unfortunately had to leave it there.

My Dad is taking good care of it though now (he plays as well)
but he wants to buy it off me. I can't quite face parting with it for good.
I think I'll just let him have it on long term loan.
I've always loved the TE tone. great amps.

having said that I now play an David Eden amp which I'm very happy with!
I think many of you Trace Elliot fans would appreciate Edens stuff.

Since Im a filter fanatic, and this Peavey unit is midi controled, I bet this would work perfect

I used to have one of those. You can get some interesting sounds out of it, but the controls on it are very complex. The pot tapers are not very good. You can turn a knob and it won't really change anything, and then you turn it a little more and you have a huge change, and then the next time, the response will be different. It takes HOURS to get good sounds set up. You have to play with it and then you get something usable, and then you have to store it before you touch one thing and screw it up!

Just popping in quickly, anyone got any specs on the 1818T? Green fur model. Just interested, that's all. Frequency response and weight would be particularly appreciated.
I've still got my green tolex 1818. :) In addition to what Kelly has mentioned, the catalog states: 300 watts, 8ohms, 3" voice coil, frequency response 32Hz-6kHz, SPL 102db @ 1w@1m, weight 37.6Kg.
