I figured that these photos had enough Trace Elliot preamps in them to justify sharing. :smug:

Sorry for this blurry one, but I had to show off that TVT9! It's my new sweetheart for an overdriven tone. :bassist::bassist::bassist:

And just for SAG, here is a wider angle shot of my preamp fun this past weekend. :D

Tom. Tell us more about that TVT9? Is that a guitar amp? Never heard of that one before...

It is 2-channel, guitar preamp. One channel is optimized for an overdriven tone (which kills, and works great for bass), and one is optimized for clean tone (which can also be slightly overdrive, and sounds pretty darn good on bass, but doesn't has much low end as the other channel). I am thinking that with some modification, I could get it to be an over-the-top great bass preamp. As it stands, it's my favorite overdriven tone. That sucker's got like 13 tubes in it! :bassist: :D

Ha I own a TVT9 preamp too and it sounds great, but I'm short a poweramp now to try the thing out. These have bout 4 tubes for each channel and 1 indicator tube (EM81 I think?). This saturation indicator tube is very to see it respond when overdriven.

Actually, I'm starting to wonder what using my Trace SP12 XV for clean with my TVT9 for distortion would sound like, hmm... :bassist:

just got a used v-type preamp for 180 bucks a few days ago.
i don´t really need it (having db750+db410, wt400+210xst and 70ies b15-n), but at that price, i couldn´t resist.
sounds really sweet.
thought this would be the perfect thread to rant about it.

cheers,
lowstar
