just got a used v-type preamp for 180 bucks a few days ago.
i don´t really need it (having db750+db410, wt400+210xst and 70ies b15-n), but at that price, i couldn´t resist.
sounds really sweet.
thought this would be the perfect thread to rant about it.

cheers,
lowstar

Killer price on a killer pre! You should try it into the "power amp in" on the DB 750. :bassist::bassist::bassist:

How come you consider this a punk rig? Due to the speakers? Due to the amp head? The bass? Your EQ? Or all together?
And what happened to the rehearsal, did you blew them away? :)

Well, I'm joining a punk band. So I had to pull out my TE punk rig, which goes quite nicely with my newly acquired '74 P-bass.

I'm trying it out at practice tomorrow. It's gonna blow them away.

^^^ What he said. And it completely fulfilled my expectations. They were worshipping me by the end of practice.

The p-bass already gets a pretty gritty sound when picked. Combine that with preshape 2 and about 70% of the tube portion of the pre, flat EQ except for a little hump around the low end and I had the gritty punk sound, but still with a fat low end that filled out the entire band. It was like two amps in one giving me just what I wanted.

Plus I was blown away with how loud that little stack got without any breakup in the lows. I didn't push the master past 5, and I was already keeping up with the two Marshall JCM2000 half stacks.

I suggest you use some butter to swallow it a little easier?

Yeah thats a good advice ..
But seriosly , thoose cabs are killer 810.
I prefer them to Ampegs and Aguilars .
So damn punchy , to bad they are so damn heavy and huge.
