Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the GP12SMX head will handle a 4ohm load and what wattage it pushes at 4ohms. I already did a search and couldn't find anything. Thanks

If you're checking out the one for sale on TradeMe, then that thing will surely do a 4 ohm load. That head with your cabs will blow down medium-size office blocks.

I have the AH350SMX, which is 350W at 4 ohm, ~200 at 8 ohm, and that's pretty powerful.

Sorry if this seems a bit defensive, but I'm one of the designers of this amp, and I can assure you that Trace had no, and will never have any involvement with our products.

I happened across this lookin' for the max heads but found
the tour series instead! Are the tour series heads in stores
yet? Did you have any part in the pro 500 amp, that one
looks even better to me due to the parametric.
I may consider the smaller tour head though due to price!

OK, not to take away from all of this TE love, but it's good to see that Peavey is finally putting the DI on the back of the heads.
Oh, and I've owned both TE and Peavey and I would choose
Peavey anyday(unless TE reissues the all tube V heads); even with the cool(?!) lookin' blacklight on the TE head.

Ok, I looked it over and didn't find the answer to my question, hopefully its not because I just woke up...

But is there a difference in the two inputs on the front of my Trace? Is it an active/passive setup? or are the 2 inputs identical?

The bits on the peavey heads dont bother me that much, if you really want it going out the back you plug in then have the leads going under the head, thats what i always loved about my firebass, you dont need to do anything at the back of the amp!

I've been looking for a new rig and i think i will be going for Trace has anyone got any sound demos of ANY trace gear?
(i've heard a small amount and liked it, but havn't had a great deal of listening time)

I've got a trace SMC 300 AH and a 1048 cab.
I just put the cab on a SVP-CL pre and a QSC power amp and I must say Hol* sh*t.

Punches me right in the gut . very impressive.

The head I will keep as it is very unique, yeah it's not all tube or rare or pre gibson but it is still kick *ss and I will die with it

there is TE bright-box/horn-box aviable on ebay now:

but strange thing - it has 8Ohm impedance. Bright-boxes I've seen earlier had 'no' impedance due to high-pass cross-over..
could someone explain me whats the difference between those 2 types of bright-boxes?

Most bright boxes are 4x5" speakers, however, that one is just a horn, dont know why that'll act as a noticable load, because im pretty sure it could easily be blown, but, its a horn, not seperate speakers like they usually are!

That unit on Ebay is a horn and not a 4052h Bright Box. All Trace Elliot 4052h's have four 5" drivers in them with no exception.

Both have a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. However, when hooked up they really don't present a load to the amp from what I understand.
