That's nothing I would exclude! Maybe the mids are overwhelming the low end somehow? Any hints on dialing in a fat tone using a Rickenbacker 403 with this 1248?

If the prob is tone, what head are you using? I would think the 1248 could reproduce anything you put into it. Ged always had his pickup switch in the middle on his Rick and just about every person I have seen the pickup switch is in the middle. I'd at least start there.
Our bass player uses a BIAS Rack amp-modeler so this point is very essential.
But IMHO (as a guitar player) especially a 412 unvented basscap without Tweeter/Horn might not be a fitting partner for a modeling solution.
But as @amper stated earlier the lack of lowend might be caused by a missusage of amp or bass-settings and we are working on a solution for that.

I got to try one at rehearsal last week and instantly fell in love with it and started looking around to buy one for myself and managed to find one here in Sweden (for a very good price) so I bought it instantly
It is a V-Type 600H, is that a completely different model than V4 / V6 or how does this all work? Is V4 all valve and 600H is a hybrid, is that what differs? It really doesnt matter since its the exact same model as the one I tried so I'm happy but it would be fun getting a bit more information about it

The Rick is used with the PU-switch in the middle and deactivated vintage condenser (which offers the most possible lowend).
Any further tipps are welcome, but maybe we have to open the back of the cab, to check if the original speakers are still in there and not some crappy no-name stuff.
If the 1248 should deliver massive low-end, we will get it delivered

To my understanding, the 600H has the same valve (tube) pre amp as a V4, V6, or V8 with solid state power instead of valves. I love the way a V-Type, regardless of power stage can rattle your teeth

MKII Amps
The V8's preamp is a bit of an exception as it has seven 12AX7s. With the extra tubes you get a switchable overdrive channel, a tube compressor, and a dedicated driver tube. There was a V4 version that shared the same preamp design as the V8, but it is extremely rare, even more so than the V8.
MK1 Amps
The V-Type preamp and hybrids have two 12AX7s. The V-Type, V4, and V6 tube heads share the same two tube front end and add two tubes. The first extra tube is a gain stage with master volume. The second serves as the phase inverter and driver for the output section.
I don't know how close the V8's natural voicing is to the others as I have never played any of these amps with the original preamp tubes. My V8 and V6 used to sound quite different as the V8 was full of Sovtek 12AX7WAs. IMHO, the 12AX7WA is typically a dark sounding tube that lacks detail. I recently rolled 7 new 12AX7s into the preamp and the voicing is now more alike than not. Both amps sound awesome. If you interested in the tubes I used in the V8, I posted about it here. The V-Type, V4 MKI and the V6 has the same valve preamp. The V8 and the V4 MKII have another preamp.
The main difference is the v4,6.8 have power amps with either 4,6, or 8 KT88 tubes. The v-type preamps are mostly the same. The orig v8 new MKII v4 and v8 have en extra gain stage and a compressor. Thanks for the clarification! I'm a big fan of the V-Type's, and have a V6 and I recently traded for V-Type pre amp. If I need the love, only a V-Type can offer, I have it.. But my main gigging amp is an ELF.

I just thought I'd show you a pic of the only custom V6 that Trace ever made. It was for some sort of exhibition and apart from the custom case, it uses 6550s for some reason. The serial number is CV6 001 and there isn't a 002.
The 6550's and KT88's are interchangeable. Some go for 6550's because they're a little less expensive. You can use either. The specs I have read say a good KT88 can put out up to 50 Watts. 6550's a few less. There's a little confusion because it doesn't add up to 400 watts for the V6. My V6 says 400W. KT88's are a little more physically robust and might last longer at max volumes. Tone wise, Kt88's have a clearer brighter top end and 6550's a little more mid. This makes sense because that's how the amps sound. I got a quote at L&M here and around $600 for 6 Gold Lion Kt's. I retubed my SVT in the 90's for half that. There's a pair of sweet looking heads. Not mine.

Maybe Trace wanted it to sound different to the normal V6 as it's a "special one". Even on outdoor stages, I've never had it near maximum, so the 6550s do pretty well. If it ever comes to a re-valve, I'll put KT88s in. The stock Ampeg 4x10HLF which I have wasn't happy with the big transients the V6 can kick out, so I put four 200 watt Fane 10" drivers in it and it's much happier now! Much easier for me to move a 4x10 around than an 8x10 or a 4x12.

Wondering if anyone can help me date my Trace 2x15 cab ( 1524). Not sure if this is pre-Gibson or not. I assume it is, but looks different than most I have seen, namely the port locations. It sounds pretty awesome.

Hard to tell if those are the original drivers - if they are, they look to be the Precision Devices drivers, that they sometimes used.

Hmm I'd have to look up that model number, but the "C" is typically for Celestion.
Are there any numbers/codes written on the arms of the basket?
It's certainly the original speaker.
What threw me was in the original picture, the dust caps don't look like any of the usual Celestions, and also, I've never seen a 15" Celestion in a Trace cab that was mounted that way.
