The Valenti Megathread Part IV

This is a day that's been long in coming.

I had the pleasure back in 2006 of reviewing one of Nino's basses - http://www.talkbass.com/reviews/sho...nti-basses-valenti-basses-j5-jazz23028/cat/13 - and have been threatening to order a bass from him since then.

That day finally came! Just dropped a deposit for a Valenti '55 - style 5 string.

Specs:

• 5 string
• Vintage style
• Nordstrand Pickup
• Swamp Ash body
• '59 finish
• Graphite reinforced maple neck
• maple fretboard with dot inlays
• 35" scale
• 1-7/8" nut
• W/B/W Pickguard
• Aluminum Hipshot A-style bridge with thru-body on B string
• 19mm string spacing
• UltraLite tuning gears

Now the wait begins!

that's gonna be very much like mine, aside from the 35" scale bit.
Mine is a Nord single coil, and frankly, I'm fine with that.

If you're a guy where single coil hum bothers you sometimes, Nord will do a side-by-side humbucker...fwiw

Thanks for the info, Chef. I'm okay with the single coil as well. I thought yours didn't have dots on the fretboard.. I could have looked at it wrong.

Yessir, you are correct. I just asked Nino about adding those yesterday!
I did not order that one new.

I had Chef's bass for a few months; unless it was changed out, it had a Nordstrand NVP5 stacked pickup.

Seems like it has single coil hum sometimes, but I could be wrong.
Some of the venues I play have truly horrid grounding

146 arrived to me safe and sound! Stunning bass! I'm kinda sad now because I know I'm going to have to give Nino money to make me a brand new one in the future!

I truly loved that bass. I like it even more with the slight mods you've made to it! I never checked to see if the ash came from us, but I know there are several basses around that serial # that did.......and it's super-light!

It is light, yessir.
There's a decent soundclip of that bass from the last show we did; but I don't think it's up on our f/b page yet.
I'll post up when it is.

Walkabout and Baer ML112.........I will never let the Baer go, and Mesa need to build a "true" stronger Walkabout......perfect tone, just not strong enough for my needs.
