after two months bassless thanks to Fedex My Valenti finally arrived. Pat Wilkins did an amazing job, love the finish.

I am still on the test phase but so far I like it very much, This is my first bass with an OBP and I am still on the learning curve, it seems to me that this preamp is very sensitive, a little touch goes a long way, it remembers me the VT bass, so I cant comment on active mode but in passive I love it,

These are very full pickups, lot of growl with plenty of low mids and upper bite, I really like the sound with both pickups fully engaged, bass is strung with some dead unknown strings but even then it sounds terrific. This weekend I will put a brand new set of strings and set it up to my liking so my expectations are very high.

I feel exactly the same about my Valenti. The one thing I'm thinking about changing is the pickups. They sound awesome but I think I'm just not a PJ guy. Ed Friedland said it best "for me, a P is a P and a J is a J"

Thinking about true single coils, no hum canceling. Should grind and growl but not clanky. Any ideas? (Nino: don't shoot me!)

I hear ya. I have a Valenti VTP5. I got is wiht a bridge pup just for the sake of versatility. It's off 99% of the time.
Killer bass. Now all I need is a 4 string to go with it.....

Yeah but which pickups? I was thinking of the new Agular pickups but Nino says they don't fit in Nordstrand routs. I've read and listened to all the shootouts in the pickups tab. Confused....

For me, I'd go Sadowsky, if you have a Sadowsky preamp
and Nord, if you have a Nord pramp

I'm sure you have all seen these before...

White one is Aggie pups and Sadowsky pre, giving it more of a 70s Marcus Miller tone.

Green 5 is Aggie w/ Aggie pre and is much more modern, cleaner tone.

I just took delivery of the 6th Valenti I've owned. I gotta say, Nino's work continuously improves and impresses. I was hankering for a vintage vibe, so I went for a very basic spec...

4-string P-Bass

• Alder body
• 3-tone burst
• Dark Rosewood board
• 1-piece neck
• Hipshot B
• Hipshot Ultralights
• Nordy P-pickup
• Nordy preamp
• TI Jazz Flats

...and so here is #167!

This bass is so freaking playable it amazes me. The sound is fat, punchy and growly when I need it, and it sounds absolutely perfect in the mix. I don't know what else to say.
