The Valenti Megathread Part IV

Brief gig report.
Man, that bass just flat out killed last night!
It doesn't have the exact same low mid growl thing that my Nordy with the same electronics does, but, no two things are ever the same. This bass is a little cleaner and clearer, which is fine. Maybe that's the ash/ebony (this bass) versus alder/rw (the Nordy), or, maybe that's just the way different pieces of wood will always add up differently. It sounds great, and I ordered a different spec so it would sound a little different. It's always interesting to see how that happens.
At any rate; I really, really like the Fat Stacks/2B preamp combination.
Fit, finish, playability, everything is just top shelf. As good as it can be; which has always been my experience with Valenti basses.
I had several musician friends in the crowd last say it was the coolest thing they'd ever seen, and one bass player friend who played it for a few minutes said it was the best bass he'd ever played.
I expect this bass and I will have many great gigs together. Here's a shot from sound check...

Well no one has posted in a while so I'll rejuvenate the thread.
New strings for No 57 today. I love the way it sounds with new D'Addarios but I don't like the feel of new ones. Judging by the way the fingerboard is sucking down oil it's been a while since I changed them.
I can't tell you how much I love this bass.
I got it on trade 4 years ago along with some cash that was needed at the time and thought I would keep it a few months and go back to a boutique bass but this thing is amazing in the mix and so easy to play.
Nino's workmanship is first rate and when I had a little problem with a scratchy pot he was such a great help. (And by the way he was dealing with hurricane Sandy that week).
A first class bass built by a classy guy.
After a wedding for my son and a quick bout with unemployment I'm gonna finally order a new PJ from Nino after the holidays. Can't wait!

I have been thinking about getting something similar in a 34" I have a passive PJ5 from another builder that has been getting 80% of the playing time lately
