It's not a copout. It's just that when he wrote the comics he wrote it as if it was the first time this thing happened so that it was a "new experience" per se. Kinda like 28 days later doing it as "rage" and its a new experience and a novel world to explore as a blank slate.

Duuuuuude, it's fiction. Fiction all contains artistic license. Seriously, you're taking the fun out of a fake show about fake stuff that is just made up for the fun of it.

Awful episode, one of the worst for me, and the exact kind of over-thinking, over-soap opera BS that made me stop watching twice already. I'm now just interested in the general story arc, and have lost all attachment to any of the characters, except for maybe Carol. My prediction is coward boy shoots Glenn in the back at the first opportunity, and most of the "team" exits with the now exiled Rick, leaving a member or two (possibly of their own will), and a couple of dead alexandrians behind them. Then the W gang shows up and start whacking everybody, roll credits to Talking Dead, and we wait 6-7 months for another 16 episode season. Well, maybe y'all will wait. Unless something gripping happens in the 90 minutes left, I'm checking out of this series.

Yeah, I didn't even know what to think after that episode. Not that I didn't enjoy it. I did. It's just that it was an episode where they set up a lot loose ends to tie up later. I agree with what Robus said about Rick. He's a loose canon and everyone isn't behind him anymore. I feel like Carol is manipulating him and plotting to overthrow the Alexanderites. And then she turns around and cooks them a casserole like she's full of empathy? Pft...

Deanna is getting completely contradictory reports from her people. One guy gushed over how Abraham took charge of the construction job and really knows what he's doing. Aiden's friend 100% lied to Deanna's face about how the run went down.

Deanna is supposed to be able to read people very well. She looked at Gabriel like he was some kind of lunatic when he talked to her.

We shall see. Although her burning the sympathy card from Carol seems a little ominous.

A few thoughts on last night's episode:
Rick is starting to act and sound like his old buddy Shane. His whole "We know how to do what needs to be done" speech and his lusting on the doctors wife is Just like how his cop partner was.
Carl missed out on a great opportunity in the tree.
Michonne got some great cakes.
