I only learned of this song from this forum. Besides the lack of tempo from the drums, out-of-tune guitars, the strange a-rhythmic syncopated vocals blow my mind. Especially the different ways they sing, "Foot Foot" "Foot-foot" "Footfoot!"

There's a lot of weird music out there, and most of it is pretty forgettable. I think Hocus Pocus by Focus deserves credit for being the weirdest thing I've ever heard on a commercial classic rock radio station.

Focus was a Dutch band, full of virtuosos. They had some great albums. "Hocus Pocus" was a major aberration for them, still exceptionally well-played.

Neanderthal Man made it to #22 back in 1970. There were always a few weird songs on the radio back in the 70's...

As far as "They're Coming To Take Me Away", it is out-weirded by the flip side of the 45 which is the same thing backwards:
