Southern Tier makes some good stuff.

Am I the only that doesn't like IPAs and these hoppy beers at all? They taste way too bitter to me.

A: Pours cloudy amber with a duvel-level of pure white head. Seriously powerful, creamy, long lasting and with a ton of lacing. Impressive!

S: First to come are the citrus: lime and lemon mostly with some grapefruit too. Some underlying honey sweetness. Coriander is there as well as a little cloves (typical from Belgian yeast). Some piny and floral hops present too. Very complex and powerful nose.

T: A much more solid malt backbone here, that I didn't expect after the smell. Honey is more present too and toffee as well. Citrus are still the main players though. Leaning more to the orange than the lemon of the nose with more grapefruit too. "Warmer" fruits are there too, thanks to the alcohol: raisins, dark cherries. As it warms up, flavors of marmelade, red apple and mango appears. Some tartness too. Cuts at the end with some nice piny/herbal hops. Extremely complex and flavorful!

M: Medium body with mid to high carbonation, just what you'd expect from the style.

D: High, very high. Superbly balanced, the alcohol is well hidden, this one is dangerously drinkable for a 10 ABV.

Well, a GREAT americanized version of a strong Belgian pale, this brew is extremely balanced and has a great great taste. Definitely one of my favorite all time brew and I'm an Imperial Stout guy. Very very impressive!!

I can't afford to be a beer snob anymore... drinking Miller Lite. Not much available around here but...

I'm a big Guinness fan though, I like most of the Sam Adams stuff, Blue Moon, Shiner Bock, Abita... I just like beer I guess.

I've had some killer micro-brew beers but that was years ago when I lived somewhere.

I can make very good craft beer for around $0.50 a class. Start up wasn't cheap, but we do 10 gallons at a time. All grain with bulk hops. You can find used equipment and order off the web. Only downer is it takes all day to brew all-grain. After your fisrt homebrew, you will be hooked.:D

Had a new to me beer. Moose Drool, nice brown beer.

To the TB'ers outside of the continental USA, are you able to get a steady supply of Tennant's Milk Stout? My wife and I were on our honeymoon at St. Thomas in 1991. We picked up a six of this fine brew and I've never been able to find it in New Jersey. I'm told that the "Milk Stout" can't be imported into the continental USA but that other Tennant's brews can. Some crazy law prevents it. Too bad since it's probably the best stout I've ever tasted.

Big, Belgian, and Chewy. Very nice indeed. Lots of dark, sweet body to this one.

(and they make a contribution to teaching kids to play jazz for every case they sell)

Recommended, for those people who want to take their beer slow and pay attention.

I was actually somewhat disappointed. Rye often adds interesting character but this one tasted out of balance to me. Oh well, if you don't try, you don't know...

Tonight I enjoyed some Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale, Negra Modelo, Red Stripe and a Guinness. The Sam Smith's is definitely among my favorites. I can't decide if I like the Oatmeal Stout or the Nut Brown Ale better. I'm glad I don't have to choose. :)

And yes... I do have a decent buzz going. ;)

And thats why I really like good beer,and taste of course, you can usually get a buzz but not blind stupid drunk from it.



Homebrew equipment ay? How does this homebrew thing work?
