Had this Wednesday night to celebrate the end of finals for me. Absolutely amazing. Rather expensive, but an unbelievable amount of flavors.

Look for anything labelled "hefeweizen" or "wheat beer" and throw a slice of orange in it. Blue Moon is Belgian style rather than German style and has a touch of coriander in there as well, but most hefes will probably have the flavour you're looking for.

I went with Fat Tire from a bartender's recommendation, and I will say they made a good call.

The Fat Tire felt a bit better in the mouth, more like a beer and not as much like soup. It still held on to some fruity taste, but it lacked the corriander and spices the Blue Moon had.

I'm going to look into some more ales to try. I don't remember why had a hatred of them, unless I had a terrible experience with one at some point.

Working on a Shiner Bock from the Shiner Family Reunion sixer. The Bock is an easy drinker that I always enjoy, but there's a couple in there I haven't tried before so I figured what the hey. They were kind enough to include their black lager in there, which I've never had, and given my proclivity for dark/black lagers, I'm game.

We're playing again at the upscale bar this weekend so I'm planning to try some new ones...for free :cool:

Interesting. You may be going for the tastes that come from the yeast rather than the wheat, then. Try a Duvel and a Delerium Tremens and see what you think - they're not cheap, but they're twice as strong as regular beer so still work out pretty cost-effective ;) Maybe Leffe as well, it's a little heavier than the Blue Moon but still has some of the same flavour elements in there.

I'm not sure. I'm going to look for another Wheat beer the next chance I get. I might look into the 2 you've mentioned as well.

It all really depends on if I go to the beer store or the bar this weekend.

Edit: Maybe I'll get a Bud Light Wheat. Those look promising.

If you want a girlie wheat beer, try Widmer or Pyramid.;)
