Tonight's beer is 21st Amendment Brewery's "Hell Or High Watermelon".

Wheat beer with watermelon in the secondary fermenter.

1. I'm glad I live in a world where people experiment with producing beers like this.

2. No no no no no no no.

Fortunately there's an emergency stash of Tecate in the fridge for this kind of crisis.

ok so here's the story=grew up on western beer=oly blitz etc. Coors was illegal in Oregon but people would drive down to Cal and buy it just because you'd be cool if you did and,it did have a dif flavor(an hour away from where i reside),,,yes i drank Coors for quite a few years as a mainstay when they legalized it here,then the nieghbor,,the neighbor that plays harp and got me into bass albeit a long trail to get to BASS loves`designer' type ales,seasonals,high octane brews

so he got me into`that' and we dwank designer ales of every label,(and we all know the Pacific Northwest has a bounty of custom designers ales that are renouned for their taste)(all 5000 of them),but i still(and will always) be able to savor a good clean american beer@ 5PM:D(it is after all a `refreshment';)),,,i love a nut brown and i love a hefeweisen,in fact i love em ALL:D

sold a bass to another neighbor and when talking beer and talking about`Rick'(the neighbor who much prefers brews like `dead man ale' by Rogue Brewery) he said=yeah some old `Tilamook Boot'(meaning as long as it's green nasty and wet it's ,well?,,one of them!=a custom designer ale like `they' brew here) or better put=full of hops!,full of taste, green finish,`chewy'

in support of a `chewy' ale if i'm going to have a uhhhm let's say a ham and swiss on rye with tons of tastes then a beer with tons of tastes FITS,with pizza i'd opt for a nut brown,,working late i'll prefer a coors,mickeys or a colt 45 thank you in an ice cold glass,miller high life works as well:D

The pic was too wide so I had to cut it in half and stack it.

My fave is the rightmost one in the top row, Weihenstephaner Korbinian. The restaurant in S.F. I want to go to tomorrow night has it on draught, but I don't think I will make it to the city in time to go there before the show I'm going to.

My usual "cheap" beer to have around is the fourth and fifth from the left on the bottom row, Spaten Optimator.

Both are tasty, delicious, and strong!

Drank this:

McAuslan Bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout (9,1 ABV)

and here is my complete review I did on beeradvocate.com

A: Pours thick and really really dark, blocks all light. Head is light brown, quite small but it lasts a long long time, and is really creamy. Lacing is quite impressive as it warms up.

S: Well, the bourbon notes are the easiest to spot, very present. Tons of vanilla, semi sweet chocolate and coffee. Oak and smoke are also present (I guess from the barrels). Liquorice and molasses also there. Some raspberries.

T: Big coffee flavors up front, with dark chocolate also very present. Molasses and liquorice are also very big in the taste. The bourbon characteristics are present: vanilla and oak. The smoke blends perfectly with the roasted malts to give a nice finish, along with the slight herbal/earthy hops present. Raspberries are still there, but less than in the smell. Overall a very big and complex tasting RIS, with every taste being strong and easy to pick.

M: Big, sticky, heavy, syrupy, what I want. Exactly what I want from a RIS. Mid to low carbonation to keep it alive.

D: Like all very big beers, this one will go down slowly and I'll be done after this one.

Very much looking forward next year edition, I've only bought one but I'll buy more next year and age 1 for 1 year and another for 2 years.

In the last 2 weeks I went through a sixer of Sam Adams Noble Pils and a sixer of Blackberry Witbier

The former was fantastic, the latter, well, not so much (Im not a fruit beer guy at all but got it against my better judgement).

I love hoppy beers, so the Pils was right up my ally.

But as always, my staple is Stone IPA. It never fails me

I just went thru some Noble Pils myself...pretty darn good really. Not as hoppy as I expected, with all the hops they use in it, pretty still good!
Haha...the Blackberry Witbier WAS pretty brutal!
I agree, pretty much EVERYTHING by Stone kicks butt!! :cool:

Oskar Blues "Gubna". It's something different in the double IPA category. I have to be honest here - the hop profile is reminiscent of onions. :eek::D I like it. Try it with pizza or any kind of food that you would want onions in.

Oh and have any of you heard of Upslope brewery? My friend did a pro-am with them last year and won a bronze at GABF for it. It is going to be their next product, Belgian pale ale. Coming soon to the front range!

Last night we went to a place called the foundry. They're connected to a brew pub who brews their own beer. It was almost 70 degrees yesterday, and we sat outside, so I went with their unfiltered wheat beer. It's my go to summer beer when we go eat there. If you're in KC, it's worth the stop.

Tonight's beer:

North Coast Brewing's Old Rasputin Imperial Stout.

I like it. Almost as good as mine. ;)

Not overly thick and chewy. Enough bite to cut through the sweetness. Well balanced but still pretty heavy and at 10.5% alcohol it's not something you're going to drink 10 of.
