This is really sad.I have known Theron Brison for a very long time. He had an illuminating smile and a very big and fun personalty. Any one who knew him or even met him for a moment were left with a very bright spirit. Theron was also a very giving person. And it showed through his actions in big ways. Theron was a drug abuse counselor with almost 20 years experience helping many overcome their issues with addiction. who really really care about his patients. He constantly kept their well being and his concern for them with him throughout his day. I remember once when we were on the road together, at the rehab facility there was a suicide scare with a patient and the patient wanted to speak to Theron and Theron only. Theron spent a few hours on the phone counseling this individual and helped this patient feel better and it was a beautiful day for all involved. And I remember when Theron got off the phone he expressed how he was so glad that things turned out so positive. And his eyes watered up. I have nothing but love for a human who really was a beautiful person.
Bootsy and Theron.
I was with Theron when he first met Bootsy. I was checking out the Traben Bootsyy Star bass and expressed to the designer what I thought about it and he was like you really dig it, I said yes and he asked me would I let Bootsy know how I feel about. So he calls Bootsy on his cell phone and tells Bootsy to come where we were.
It was me bassist Lawrence Hightower(who passed away earlier this year) and Theron. Bootsy came in, super down to earth spirit and Theron and Hightower were just giddyI told Bootsy what I thought of the bass and then Hightower played the bass and then Theron played the bass and Bootsy snapped. Bootsy was on Theron like most bass players are on Bootsy. And you could feel that Bootsy was being genuine in how he felt about Therons playing. And the bond between Boosty and Theron was cemented that day. It is so sad to lose a friend like Theron and none of my days will ever be the same. I last spoke with Theron Tuesday(10-11-011). I am really saddened.
Theron was a true Funkateer and he just glowed when he played bass, when he talked bass and just being a bass player. This is a true loss to so many and a true loss to one of funks most burgeoning offspring.
Bootsy I thank you for allowing Theron to have what he's always wanted. A moment to roll with one of his biggest hero's.
