They fired me.

ive never had that happen but i can tell you, look at it like they did you a favor because in a sense they did. now go practice and soon youll get another gig.just dont stop.dont focus on that bullsht. you got 2 choices. backwards or forward. simple as that. youve gone this far, keep on goin and good luck to ya. ds

+1. This thread is only one and a half hours old and look at the outpouring of support.

Cherie, who knows, maybe in a few months you'll be sharing horror stories with the replacement bassist. :smug:

{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS!!!}}}}}}}}}

You know, that's not unlikely. Not at all. The guy is from Vegas. From what I've heard, when you play in Vegas, a certain level of professionalism is expected. He's not likely to find that with this band. When the drama starts, he'll know what he's gotten into.

Until then...I shall smile sweetly and take gigs with that rock guitarist! ;)

I recently got kinda "fired" from a band I'd been playing with for a while. It was kinda awkward the way it went down though. Called to see if we were practicing after I got in town from two weekend gigs with another band, drummer said sure we're practicing and a buddy of the new singer who plays bass is coming by. I show up with my bass and the other guy is already there and I walk in mid-song and he ends up playing the rest of the practice.........oh well.

Is this the band with the married pair I've seen you post so much about?

Definatley better of without them, they seemed nothing but trouble from what I've read.

I'm sure, as this entire thread is, that you'll be much better off without them. Best of luck in bigger, brighter, greener pastures!

Yep!!! Stronger, better, faster...The Six Million Dollar Bassist! LOL!

That exact scenario is very likely to happen tomorrow night. I invited a *lot* of people to our show in Lago Vista. I know a lot of people there. They faithfully come to support us. But I won't be there, and they will be, like, shocked and stuff!

Yyyyyyep!

Cherie :bassist:

Can't you call a *lot* of people that you invited and note that
you have been made redundant from the NOBODY'S
and point out that you will be playing at X festival instead
in case they are interested in seeing your gig.

Just kind of subtlely eroding the fan base starting right now.
:p

Well, it sounds like you got the better end of the deal! It sounds like people in your area like you, so you won't be taking any steps back, that's for sure!

Honestly, I think they just used that one as an excuse to get rid of me. The new bassist is male. The Queen Bee won't be threatened by another female who can play and sing being on the same stage as her, anymore.
Cherie :scowl:

A female bassist who can sing will have no trouble getting gigs. Put the negativity behind you and move forward.

A very good friend of mine fired me from his band. I was hurt. I decided it not to let it screw up a friendship. Later when I was unemployed and needed work he pointed me to my current job. Three years and we still work together. Had I let it mess up the friendship, I would have been in dire straits financially.

I'm not suggesting you need to be friends with them. In my case the guy was thoroughly up front about it and (judging strictly from your side of the story) they weren't. That doesn't change the fact that you'll only hurt yourself by going negative with it.

Onward and upward.

KO

I know you cant see it, but i am making a certain hand gesture directed towards your former band mates for what they did.... :spit:

Like everone else said before me, your better off without them. i know it sucks now, but it will work out for the better. just hang in there....

+1.

In any case, don't beat yourself up for a second longer about CW. From what you've said here, it's been clear for a *long time* that they weren't your friends, they weren't treating you well and weren't likely to start, and that you'd be better off learning what you could from that gig and then moving on.

Moreover, from the morning TV performance you posted a while back, if they're claiming that the guitar playing wasn't the weak link by far, they're either deeply delusional or just lying to try to be mean.

It all adds up to their continued bad behavior not being worth another two seconds of your time worrying about. You certainly shouldn't take this final BS spiel about their reasons with any more seriousness than their position about needing to control the promo shots of your new bass last year, or their idea that bickering at rehearsals is professional, etc.

Rather than condolences, let me say congratulations that you have these two in your rear view mirror. They might not have meant to do you a favor, but they surely did.

Cherie,

Believe what your friends here are telling you, you are better off without them. Take this as an opportunity to move on to better things. Something that will fulfill you as a musician and person.

Pay no heed to their criticism of your playing (chords, fills - bah). When someone calls me a pocket player, I know I've done my job.

I've been fired from bands before and it's no fun, but I believe I've become a better player and stronger person because of it.

Regards,

Jack

They feel that I need a *lot* of improvement as a bassist. That I don't put in enough fills, and I don't know how to play chords like their old bassist did, and yada yada.

chords? isint that what a guitar player is for? would chords even fit the music? would fills fit the music? does it matter that much?

Keep moving on and forget about your previous band mates. They didn't treat you well in the end, especially with doing everything behind your back, and not telling you about getting a new bassist. Remember the saying, what comes around goes around. Something, whatever it is, just might happen to them... heck who knows, maybe their new bassist gets all sick right before a big show.

And I listened to some of your music on the band MySpace, and you're pretty good in bass. It's amazing how they say you need a lot of improvement when they aren't improving themselves.

You've already got a truckload of advice, but i'll dump mine on yet just for good measure (coming from a guy who had a lead singer who as a frontman really agrivated about half the band)

Being the member the band can't gel with isn't good for you or them. You don't want to be part of a band that is always wishing they had someone else instead of you!

In your case it might not even be that your not good enough or of the female species, etc but just that things just aren't clickin the way they want. Band chemistry is of huge importance in my opinion, especially if you want to have fun...duh!

Looking back I think you'll be glad they let you go. Better for them, better for you.
