Things that annoy you

...you PULL OUT INTO THE INTERSECTION and sit there until the light turns red (perfectly legal). Once the light turns red, procede to turn. If you pull out far enough, two or three of your buddies in the turn lane can come with you...

I had no idea this was the formal/informal term for it. I only know that when we moved to S. Florida 4 years ago, I discovered that NO ONE here does it.
That and (I'm certain this has been mentioned 400 times now) NOT using turn indicators.

Actually, looking back on my post I used the wrong term. A leading left is when the green arrow appears to allow people turning left a chance to turn BEFORE oncoming traffic gets a green light. A LAGGING left is what I was referring to. That's when anyone with half a brain or more pulls out into the intersection and turns as soon as the light turns red. It is perfectly legal and prevents people turning left from having to sit through multiple light cycles until grandma or grandpa muster up the courage to turn.

I can only imagine the elderly drivers you deal with in Florida.

Before moving here, I imagined roads full of blue-hairs looking through the steering wheel rather than over it and driving 15 MPH below the speed limit. As it turns out, this is only partially correct.

1) Florida drivers are, near as I can tell, the worst drivers in the Continental United States. I thought California drivers were terrible (they are) but they don't hold a candle to the residents here in the Sunshine State. And our auto insurance rates reflect this. :atoz:
2) Almost everyone drives at least 25 MPH over the speed limit (70 to 75 MPH) on the Interstates and the Turnpike AT ALL TIMES. It's moderately unnerving to be driving 80-85 MPH and have people passing you like you're standing still. Every day... At any time of the day...
3) There are fewer old and slow drivers here than old and fast drivers. This accounts for the ridiculous numbers of rear-end collisions daily on US-1 in the #1 lane.

My Mac mini displaying a permanent "Updates Available" popup (who's ever heard of Apple popups when Steve Jobs was in charge?), unless I click on "close," which triggers opening the Apple App Store and the website to download the update. Adding insult to annoyance, Apple sold me a computer (just before they introduced the new chips) that doesn't have enough memory to install a new OS.

Edit: For the first time in months, I clicked "close" and it actually went away without opening download pages. Somebody must've complained. :)

Sounds like a nightmare.

When I was up in NB, sometimes people would stop to wave you into traffic even when they had right of way. It's dangerous in its own right but there's generally less people on the road, especially way out in the sticks. There isn't generally much traffic and it shows the few times there's actually a traffic jam.

I had to tell my girlfriend that people drive differently in Ontario, and that the 401 is a gosh darn waking nightmare at times. You'll be going 20km over the speed limit in the middle lane with all kinds of idiots passing you from either direction, swerving between each other in the two left lanes and the usually elderly folks that think the speed limit is a bit too fast in the right hand lane. Next thing you know, traffic is coming to a compete stop. On a highway. Usually that's the time I roll down the windows and crank some Rancid or something.

If I find a genie and got three wishes, two of them would be for reforming the 401 and how people drive on it.

Does it bother you when drivers don't use their signal lights?

I was encouraged a while back when someone posted a poll here, and 90% of people here said that they use their blinkers, even if there are no other cars around.

Maybe bass players are just more responsible in general. But that kind of attitude helps me to remain a happy driver. So thank you!

To me, not using a signal when changing lanes or turning is just incredible arrogance and selfishness. That driver can't spend a fraction of a second to help the other drivers on the road be prepared for his next action. It's part of why I hate to drive anymore - I just spend my time cursing in my own car at all the jerks around me. (And I'm sure people are cursing about me, but at least I use my signals)
