Things You Don't See Anymore Part 3

Dude..... Seriously.... This one near brings tears to my old eyes...... No joke man. Had one of these as a lad filled with stuff that's important to a kid. Also had ten bucks in it I got for a birthday. My saintly mother came to me with tears in her eyes one day and I could see she was just broken inside asking me if she could use that ten bucks (a lot of money for a poor family).... Well of course I gave it to her and of course she gave it back shortly thereafter. And to this very day my mother still apologizes to me for that. I would pay a kings ransom to find exactly one of these safes. I would pack that sucker full of cash, mail it to my mom and tell her that old debt is long been settled...... Man, you opened up some deep feelings with this one.....

Great story. Thank you for sharing that.
This thread often stirs things up for us um, older folks, doesn't it?

That safe also does something for me. My late, older brother had one and he kept all of his priceless things in there too when he was young. I was transfixed by it...a "real" safe! Wow! I eventually got a far inferior plastic version. As older brothers often do, many facets of my personality came directly from him. My sense of money and responsibility come from him. Better still, my generosity also came from him. He held onto his money very responsibly but if he knew you needed something and couldn't afford it, he would bust that wad out immediately to help the cause.

He wasn't even 41 when he died; I often keep his memory alive by doing things he would have done.
So perhaps on the way home it is time to do a random good deed...

Well since you brought your mom into it, this first one is tagged at $12 which looks like the same one that R 123 posted. Hopefully it's still available:
