I was thirteen in 1972, there was a pretty little blonde thirteen year old named Tracy who lived on the street behind me. I'm certain that every thirteen year old boy in the neighborhood had a crush on her, I did. She was an only child, who had the best of everything. When a new album came out, she had it first. She dressed better than the other girls, if it was in style she was the first to wear it. Her parents remodeled their ranch house, adding a second floor suite for their daughter. It had her bedroom, a private bathroom and a big game room equipped with mod furniture, a great stereo, her own TV, and a Brunswick air hockey table. It was THE place to hang out for a bunch of young teenagers.
I haven't thought of Tracy or her "lair", as we referred to it in a long time. Last week My wife and I were in an antique store and saw a bunch of items that reminded me of Tracy, as she owned every one of them. I didn't take any photos, because my phone was dead, but I found photos of some of the stuff on line. All of it reminds of that time and place.
