I was a hi-fi geek from the git-go. Dad had Scott tube stuff and AR 2aX speakers, I had a stand-alone eight track system for my bedroom much like one of the "free" ones in the Columbia Club ad above. First thing I did was construct a mono subwoofer with a 12" TV speaker. Didn't work very well but it was trailblazing for 1970.
I still use some pretty cool 70s era audio stuff every day.
