I rank the banjo, accordion and bagpipes all in the same category.
They can all sound annoying if not played skillfully. In the right setting they can sound amazing. This is true for any instrument so not picking on anyone!
I was looking for a “bad bagpipe” example and found this Aussie called Bad Piper…check out this guy shredding on the pipes! He even has pyro technics. Ha!

I love the banjo!
One of my favorite people in the world is my banjo-playing friend, Tim.

There is NO instrument that I don’t appreciate; honest to gawd.

Some just make for easier jokes than others… ya know?
The banjo is/was often used as the chord instrument in New Orleans street corner bands(along with tubas)'cos you can hear it at a far greater distance than an acoustic guitar.
 
Dang and we blew up all of our “action figures” with cherry bombs. But we also exploded our sisters Barbies that are probably worth more!
