This must be a local phenomenon there. Here, while milk* cartons go into the recycling bin, actual bottles still have deposits. Doesn't matter if glass or plastic. Most supermarkets have a bottle return machine near the entrance.

Tourists from lands with throw-away mentalities provide a small income stream for people that are determined to sleep on the streets.

Or maybe we're the oddballs. Dunno how it works in the rest of Europe.

* Milk is different here, too. Unopened milk (H-Milch) will keep at room temperature for weeks. We store it unopened in the closet, not the fridge.

Once it's opened, though, all the usual milk rules apply.

We pay more for the milk that spoils in unopened containers. (Vollmilch)

Apparently, it's called shelf-stable milk in the US. I looked into this during the pandemic. We can find the Parmelat brand in supermarkets. Parmelat has become synonymous with milk that doesn't need refrigeration unopened. What else I found out was that office supply stores sell shelf-stable milk online. People put it in their coffee.

Coleman sells one. Not sure if it's a reissue or always has been available. I know it's been a few years since I placed it on my Amazon wishlist.

Coleman must be the world’s leader in buying up small companies and slapping their name on stuff. I think you could completely equip your entire home, garage, and of course, camper, with only Coleman-branded stuff. (I have one of their inflatable hot tubs.)

Anyway…mini bikes! Growing up me and my brothers desperately wanted one, only to be continually told by our parents “but where would you ride it?”

(Um, EVERYWHERE!!!!)


Maybe that is why I have a motorcycle today.

Rode mine yesterday. Granted it's a 2000s model, it is the last of the manual shift ones. I believe Cushman licensed vespa back in the day in the states.

I rank the banjo, accordion and bagpipes all in the same category.
They can all sound annoying if not played skillfully. In the right setting they can sound amazing. This is true for any instrument so not picking on anyone!
I was looking for a “bad bagpipe” example and found this Aussie called Bad Piper…check out this guy shredding on the pipes! He even has pyro technics. Ha!
