Things You Don't See Anymore Part 3

Circa 1967. I saw a minibike on someone's back porch, half covered with other stuff. After a month of looking at it, I gathered up enough courage to knock on the door and ask if they wanted to sell it. I think I paid $75. Don't know the manufacturer, but was nice. Six inch wheels, a jackshaft between the engine and wheel with a little disk brake on the jackshaft. Fiberglass fenders. It was a dull, scratched up red and I repainted it candy apple green. 1st pic is me, 2nd pic is my dad on it.

I got around well enough on bikes, though...
Hell, yeah! I used to covet a 10-speed bike like one of the older neighbor kids had, but my folks were smart; One year for Xmas, I got a BMX-type that was FAR and away better for the roads we had, and the myriad trails through the woods where we lived. I could go just about anywhere, pavement or no. I never cared about those skinny-tire street bikes again.

Tether Cars

I had a gas powered "tether car" when I was a young child. The idea of a tether car was that you attached some sort of line to one side of the car, and the other end of the tether was attached to a spike driven in the ground. When you ran the car, it would run around in a circle on the tether. I never did actually put fuel in mine, and just played with it un-powered. I think that as a little kid, I had no money to buy the fuel. I can barely remember what mine looked like, but it may have been just like this one.
