Things You've Learned by Postings on TB

3) I like the Carrots option....because ultimately, I don't care what you play or do.....as long its not illegal :)QUOTE]
Actually, I don't even care if it's illegal as long as it doesn't hurt anyone - (I mean, weed is still illegal a lot of places, at one time or another just about any sex thing you can think of (or do) has been banned by SOMEONE!).
Also... Don't be DI@K because no one likes a PAIN IN THE @SS! I see what you did there.;)

I've learned that having decades of experience playing exclusively bass-cable-amp means that effects are worthless. You're wasting your time trying to get a Moog-like tone, even if the song calls for it. Just play that "Chameleon" line, or any synth-bass line for that matter, bass-cable-amp, because bass-cable-amp will always sound better. Or if a synth-bass tone is absolutely necessary, only play it on a keyboard. Do not desecrate your pristine bass tone; 'tis sacrilege to do so! Any deviation from bass-cable-amp is pointless, and all effects are toys and/or crutches.

I wonder if people go into steakhouses just to tell the staff and customers, "I'm a vegan, and those steaks you're eating are worthless!"

I've learned that, despite a degree in Acoustical Physics, a few decades designing pro audio gear, and a few decades (some over lap in those decades) playing bass, that even though I might freely share something I think valuable to someone who has less experience than I, if he disagrees with me....

I am an idiot.

Luickily that doesn't happen too often.

I've also learned that firing the drummer solves way more problems than I would have guessed.

I've learned:

1) that just like with cars, beer and In N' Out Burger, just because something has been discontinued or isn't available in your geographic area, that doesn't necessarily make it better than what someone else goes with. as a buddy of mine says, "Like what you like."

2) that it's perfectly okay to start a thread about a previously discussed topic (even though there are a few TB'ers who will try to shut that thread down immediately and tell you to 'quit yer postin' and do yer research!')

3) there are some genuinely fantastic and helpful folks who participate in this site.
