Things You've Learned by Postings on TB

I already knew how to play bass pretty well and pick out my own equipment, but I wasn't much on the technical side. TB has brought my knowledge level way up in that regard, but with two caveats:

1. Many folks don't care about the science side and go by what their ears tell them only, which is just as cool an approach as any, despite any previous postings of mine that contradict me saying this now :D

2. The more I learn about the tech end, the more I realize that I don't know.

Despite that, I will continue my education, although I will always be somewhat of a layman. But I have been able to make improvements in my tones because of it, found out why I lose certain notes at certain venues on a consistent basis (boundary cancellations), and the like, so I'll keep trying to learn as well as I can. Until I get thrown off again :D

I learned to stop making more posts after my second drink. ( give or take ) :D

My BIL drinks Jameson...is it any good?
How does it compare to a good Scotch Whisky?
or to something like Aberlour or Macallan 12?

Plus, tort. I can't figure out why sticking a big slab of salami on anything looks good, but people think so. TB is full of strange and mysterious knowledge.

Note to self: Design pickguard with graphic of a salami collage emblazoned on it. Retire early. Make it edible. Retire EXTRA early!!

Some of same folks that come drop in a thread and whine about overdone topics or using the search function are the same folks that love another "how awesome is tort/flats/p bass" thread.
And some of the rest of us love them because it gives a golden opportunity to indulge in public silliness and attempted trolling.

Plus cat pictures.

There are a lot of folks on TB who define any non-candy coated expression of an opposing opinion or any perceived criticism--whether constructive or not--as trolling.

Yes!

I've learned that "Don't like it don't buy it" really means don't make a thread/post about something you dislike.

I've learned that someone else shouldn't care what other people do or like but it's ok to care enough to ask them why they care.
