Things You've Learned by Postings on TB

I've learned so much from Talkbass that I'm eternally thankful. In the last year alone I learned that any pedal worth having comes in a box and that it is wrong to sleep with the drummers girlfriend. Those are just a few of the lessons that are sure to stick with me the rest of my life.

This brings back good tb memories. Don't follow the gourd, follow the box :)

I've learned about GAS and have developed several techniques to get gear into the house without my wife noticing.
I've learn about a lot of cool gear, discovered the awesomeness of fuzz on bass, and the many diferent brands and boutiques that are out there.
That a cheaper bass can sound really good and you don't have to feel bad if you're not using high end gear.
That tort is always the right pickguard.
That carrots is always the right answer.
But I still haven't learned what's the best bass for metal.

That is too bad because combined together, tort and flats are IT. That's fine, go play your Fodera with nickel roundwounds and no pickguard, it's your choice... Who am I to judge after all.
More of just a carrots joke than anything actually pertinent.

In all seriousness: There is a direct correlation between the snarkiness of a response to a OP pointing to another thread or sticky and the probability of said sticky/thread being full of dead links and off-topic BS. Or more snark = more dead links & BS. Not just a TB phenomenon, forums in general have this problem.

I learned I really like a bunch of Bass Players! We're all a fun group!
Compare that to good Lead Guitar players, who don't say much and at the end of practice/gig they pack up the Les Paul, close the peddle board case, grab everything in one trip (little loud amp included) and mutter "see ya next week" and poof their gone. Great to play with but not much fun!!
Us bass players are a lot of FUN! We like to hang, talk loud (did I mention the little loud guitar amp?) and have a good time. Did you ever check out a guitar form? Now I know it's just me but BORING!

So keep at it and be proud we are Bass Players! And enjoy it! You know what they say about Bass Players? We are the one's who move your girlfriends @@##!!! (on the dance floor!)

Carrots are for the weak. Sometimes it's better to be weak.

I learned that many people think their opinion and prejudice are more important than knowledge and experience.

I learned that some people can't handle opinions that are in contradiction with theirs.

I learned that being tolerant towards others is the way to survive any discussion.

Last but not least, I learned there are a lot of helpful fellow bassists out there who like to make the best of it.

1) If someone says it has to have a Tort guard (I no likey), I smile and move on.

2) If someone says it has to have flats on it (I no likey), I smile and move on.

3) There is NO best bass, it is what is the Best bass for your taste. (Many very good basses I may add)

4) I don't like carrots but it is a very good option.

Oh and it goes to 11!

Amps and cabs are getting lighter. You can't KILL A PEAVEY. It will come back as this:

I've learned that I"m not the only one who sneaks equipment home and lies about the expenditures.
There are some excellent luthiers and amplification/sound designers who hang around TB.
I've learned to look at all different equipment possibilities.
This is a great time to be a bass player as far as equipment.
This is a terrible time to be a bass player playing live as the market had dried up a bit.
I've learned that sometimes when I'm offended I can be a butthead. I'm trying not to let total strangers get to me, although many of their opinions matter to me.

Bass players have an odd sense of humor that I find totally familiar. I thought I was the only one who was peculiar. I have lots of company.
