I've been GAS'ing for this since the leaks a few weeks ago. You have my money on the black sparkle 5 string Z3, just release it soon please Sire!
Maybe fantastic instruments for the money, but whenever one of these iconic instrument designs is cloned as obvious as it gets - and then you see a completely different headstock that no gifted designer would ever have combined with the rest of it…

I’m kinda interested in the gb5 they rolled out too. Not many hollow/semihollow 5 strings out there.
I love Lakland, and it's an especially obvious comparison when looking at the Z7 with the HS pickup arrangement, but I'm most concerned with pickup placement and price range. If Lakland were to offer a bass with a Humbucker in the MM sweet spot for $500, I would snap it up in a heartbeat. Even if they had a skyline model in their current $1500-1800 price range, I would've found a way to get one. I love my 4402 to death after rocking it for the last decade, but I have to jump through hoops to cop a stingray sound, and sometimes it's not all that convincing. If you were to buy one of these Sires looking for a Lakland tone, you're probably going to be disappointed.
3+1 headstock too? There's some lawyers suiting up...
That’s what I’ve been looking for. EBMM tends to be pretty protective of their IP and litigious to enforce it. I’m very interested in how this is going to play out.
BTW, if the 5 string has 18mm spacing, I’m all over it!
Looks like it will have p-bass nut width like the Sterling ray34. (4-string version) I wish it had Jazz bass nut width like the Sterling Ray24. I love the feel and sound of the Sterling Ray24 but I have had really bad luck with multiple copies of that model. Terrible quality control. I have been looking for a better Stingray alternative that won't put me in the poor house.

Dang the Z7 5 string is looking NICE! That Next T40 thread had me jonesing for an ATK805! This is definitely a contender! For a J/H 5 string!
As a self proclaimed EBMM Fanboi, it's the necks and preamps.
You can get a great MM style pickup which is not Ernie ball, and great necks...but those preamps are the shiznit.

HS was my favorite stingray pickup configuration. Glad to see Sire making that affordable.
