Young widows and Breather Resist (same bassist in both bands) uses a big box rat. 1990ish I believe. I got one off ebay for $100 awhile ago. It's basically the sound you hear in the video!
Thanks.

Skulletwhip: Thats surprising, I recently got an OCD, was planning an OSD but one came up here in New Zealand cheap, couldn't say no, and I love the thing, it really drives the Rat Tail into bone crushing territory to.
i use the rat low gain style. it did the ocd's job but better.
dude.. get a rat tail and still have the grey stache!
i always have an od, distortion AND a fuzz. then you can combo on top of that.

Def not dumping the Grey Stache. I've used that Ibanez overdrive pedal since I started playing bass 5 years ago in college and I haven't found an od/distortion that could replace it since, although many have attempted. I don't know why I dig it either cuz it really colors your tone... I guess I just dig the color it provides.
Now for the questions I was resisting to ask (because I tend to ask it alot in the effects forums).... How does a Rat Tail sound flowing into an always-on VT Bass? As good as the Grey Stache does? I notice that with the VT I use the "weakest" diode setting since the VT adds some gain of its own, nice to see those diode switches on the RT as well.
Sorry if it's been answered already, but is there a pedal out there that sounds like the rat but leaves the bottom intact?
