this sounds stupid but is it ok to play punk live while sitting down not standing up?

Not to derail, but I just ordered Fear: The Record on vinyl off Discogs last night, and I can't wait to get my grubby mits on it! One of those records I've been wanting forever, but have yet to add to my collection, until now!

Nice Dude that's a great one. My favorite is probably still "More Beer". But they're all awesome.

I've got "more beer" somewhere, I much prefer the debut though! I always go back to "Decline of western civilization 1" periodically, that would've been a cool time to be around to go see FEAR, Black Flag with Reyes on Vocals, or the Circle Jerks, that original west coast scene cant be topped by any standards(I wasn't even alive yet LOL)

you're only playing a few notes in the whole song which is normal for punk
Woah now that all depends on the punk in question. Listen to some Fugazi, Minutemen, fIREHOSE, and Nomeansno and come back and say that again, I dare ya! Oh and for the record, Joe, Mike, Rob et al all play that craziness standing up. While singing.

Ok guys. Listen. I decided I'm going to listen to your posts. Here is a cover of me playing while standing up.

See? Now you've gone and redeemed yourself. I guess all you needed was some tough love, which bassists usually get from their bandmates anyway. You're on your way, kid.

True, I dont listen to much punk but most of the classic punk stuff Ive heard tends to be pretty straightforward and simple.

ya look and sound good. and i'm a fan of your song choice, too.

keep doing it - it gets easier faster than you think. and btw, it seems your profile on that video is "

at McDonald's
you might want to consider something like "punk bass is my life" or "college, punk rock AND a full time job". just a throught, but there's obviously more to you than just being a cashier.

In the school Jazz Band we play a bit of Pop Punk and Punk Rock, and I stand on a chair right next to the first trumpet player :D (also right next to drum kit).

But yeah, even regular Jazz I stand up. I hardly play sitting down anymore. I only do that because I like to get a bit more technical than I should. It just depends on personal preference IMO.

My favourite Green Day song, one of my favourite breaks, and one of my staples. You're doing great. And standing!!! (I was thinking of you and this thread just this morning.... see, you're already making a mark on the world )

Maybe a bit off time a couple of times on the break, but it's a fast one and I reckon you'll have it down in the next few attempts :bassist:

Rock on brother, rock on!

Don't sweat being perfect, your passion is more important than 100% accuracy. Very few bands (including Green Day) play a set without errors. They cover them well, that's the trick ;)

Glad someone's enjoying themselves instead of worrying about what other people are doing.
