this sounds stupid but is it ok to play punk live while sitting down not standing up?

Yeah, you can sit in one of those hand chairs, but it's only punk if one of the fingers is up the butt.

Hence the staining on the middle finger...

Hey guys. The reason i ask this is because I'm allot more accustomed to sitting down rather that standing up. I typically practice right after i get home from work. I work long weekend shifts at mcdonalds and other days i get home from school at about 7 and I'm usually to tired to stand up. i have grown so accustomed to sitting down and have no time to get accustomed to standing up. ever.

Simple. A punk would ditch school or not show up at work on the day of his gig.
He would be well rested to put every ounce of his energy into his "art".

Punk is an attitude, not a style of music.

If you are a punk you don't give a damn about what anyone thinks, you aren't inclined to tell anyone what you think.
If you want to express yourself it is best done loudly, offensively with noise or a middle finger.

There are no true punks on Talkbass. If there were, they would be banned immediately.
They aren't community minded enough to participate in an internet forum and they don't give a damn about gear porn.

Basically, you are asking the wrong people and no one here knows the answer to your question including me.

But if I'd hazard an imaginative guess, I'd say Jabba the Hutt was about as punk as you could get and he never stood up.
Be like Jabba!

...Also, Isn't that kinda what Dave Grohl did when he broke his leg?
So punk is,about being a complete ******* and the inability to function on a somewhat worthwhile forum? It's you who doesn't know what punk is.

Oh really. You are saying i can't sit down while playing punk like its a rule of punk, but then you guys say in punk there are no rules. If there are no rules, then whats wrong with doing it MY way? By getting comfortable and sitting on my ass? You play your way, i will play my way. Everyones happy. The audience won't really care anyways as long as i make it look good (AKA not slouching, maybe swinging my legs and head a little).
So why did you ask if you already had your mind made up? You didn't want opinions...you wanted confirmation.

OP is 21 and unlikely to be disabled. I was addressing him. You're clearly in a different situation and the statement doesn't apply.

You're right of course. But all these threads about punk music have got me wanting to be argumentative for no reason.

Oh wait....
I mean F&@% YOU, YOU CONFORMIST HIPPIE!!! WHY DON'T YOU GARGLE MY BOLLOCKS WITH YOUR RATIONALE YOU PIG!!!

LOL. I'm afraid I'm always going to be a poser. Punk sucks anyway.

The first few times I saw the Flaming Lips back in the 80s Mike Ivins would play seated with his back to the audience. I actually thought it was a pretty punk thing to do at the time. He still plays seated on occasion. I also saw Murphy's Law and a few others over the years seated due to injury or handicap.

Playing seated because you are too lazy to stand up is just lame.

I went to see NOFX once and Fat Mike (the singer/bassist) had broken his leg - they dragged an old couch onstage and he played the show laying down. He totally rocked it, but then he can get away with things that mere mortals cannot.

To me it sounds like you just need better shoes and to practice your bass strapped and standing - playing sitting down because you're tired is about an 8 out of 10 on the lame-o-meter.
