I have standard 34”’on a 30.7” bass because I wasn’t paying attention because I probably saw a sparkle somewhere because I have the concentration of a squirrel and I cut the first string before I realized I grabbed the wrong pack from my box of strings. Anyway, 2 1/2 years later, all the chubby parts wrapped around the posts and many hundreds of hours use they’ve totally fine.

Haha! I just played that this past Sunday, using my Jazz with TIJF. Worked beautifully! I do want to try the Jazz Rounds though... wondering what bass to put them on. HHhhhmmm....

Here's my attempt. I'm no pro or anything and goofed hard in a few spots, but thankfully everyone else is strong enough of a musician that I don't think I threw them off. This was definitely a bit more outside my normal style of playing, but I really enjoyed it! I do wish I had more time to practice it beforehand, though. Insert "I'm more of a pocket player" excuse for my lack of skill and practice time here. lol!

Finger noise and finger "feel"???

you are asking? pretty low finger noise for rounds, the feel is very supple and slinky but not loose, IMO.

I love TI rounds… Work smarter not harder lol
They feel Very smooth with low finger noise for rounds.
Very balanced from string to string without sacrificing any low end.
Tension is low but for me personally very easy to get used to since I have a light touch and I usually play T.I. flats
My only complaint would be the length of the E string… It goes beyond the silk on the tuning post about 3/4 of a turn, and that is on a fender custom shop precision.

Singing is good, but gives it more of a CCR feel than a southern soul one. Not saying that’s bad - it’s just another way to do it.

Yea. It definitely ended up different than the original! We never quite nail the recording version of something.

Bass is never mixed right at churches.

To be fair, there are enough “hand a guitarist a bass” players that make sure the bass doesn’t really add anything, but still…

You don’t have the nail the recorded version of anything - don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

That being said, musically it’s worth trying to replicate a certain feel. If someone doesn’t listen to 60s soul and southern rock, they’re not going to render that song the same as Zach William’s version.

I love TI JF344S. Flats, but TI are fantastic.

A number of years ago I tired some TI rounds. I didn't like them. About a year later a bunch of players were raving about them so I thought I must have missed something and bought another set. Didn't like them. Sounds like I'm definitely in the minority.

A useful thread - I had brief exposure to these on a borrowed bass a long time ago, and liked them. On rounds, I'm a DR Pure Blues guy, but I may have to try these at some point. Any insight as to how long they last before getting dull or losing intonation accuracy?

I get about 6-7 years out of a set of TI Jazz Rounds, whereas other rounds, I would have to replace after 6 months to a year. That is with daily playing and routine gigging. Even at 6 - 7 years, the TIs would still intonate precisely and have much of their original character. Usually, I replace them not because the sound deteriorates, but because the wrappings, especially the g string, show fret wear that makes me worry about the possibility of breakage. That said, in over 15 years of using TIs on multiple basses, I have only had one string break. That was an E string that came unwound at the 6 year mark. Given their long life, they are among the least expensive strings on the market when the upfront cost is amortized over the playing life.
