Thoughts on this bass?

The seller has some kind of attitude. I don't bother with a seller with an attitude. I just love the you better buy it now or I am going to yank it give me a break. :bassist:

Yeah, really! And how about letting the F-bomb fly. I am known to talk like a merchant marine when in the mood, but I would never say things like that in an ad. The whole thing seemed kind of condescending... like he was doing you a big favor by posting his mangy bass. Super hard pass on that one for a number of reasons....

Interesting mental gymnastics needed to play both the 'VINTAGE INSTRUMENTS RULLLLEEEEE' card along with the 'This will knock any vintage spec instrument off it's 4$$' at the same time. That description is so full of stuff that would suggest it's everything from a re-fin mutt-beater to 'a custom ordered rarity'...Nothing that makes me want to take a $1700 gamble or gives me the confidence that if it's not the bare minimum of what he says that there will be anything but a huge unsatisfactory experience dealing with him on the backend of the deal.

Reactions: Evil Funk
Someone worked very hard but not very intelligently to make the bass look old. The cigarette burn on the headstock is just sad because while on a guitar a cigarette will stick there on a bass it won't. People used to do this to give guitars mojo. Nothing about this thing looks right to me but it is such a mess that maybe it is what they say it is. Not a Fender expert by any means.

The body is VERY correct for that year. Precision and Jazz basses from around that time had really weird routing in the neck pocket. the body, on the lower horn side, curves in first on the edge of the neck pocket, and then curves back out past the edge of the neck! They had a lousy template for a few years there!
