Three hours to my first ever gig and...

Oh, one more thing.

Be sure to come back here after the gig and tell us how your tuning efforts went. Whether or not your bass went out of tune, if alternate tunings were used, what brand of tuners are on your bass, what brand of digital tuner you used, etc.

And definitely report if any guitars went out of tune.

They actually are a talented bunch of guys. We're just what I'd call musically immature still. In his defence i think he's just nervous or trying too hard to come across as the consummate professional as we're a young originals band doing quite well locally.

Well it's a couple hours after the gig and it really couldn't have gone much better. Second band of a three band bill and we get the best crowd response of the night. Partly because 90 percent were there to see us though.

I totally agree with you guys. I tuned as usual and his clip on tuner got the job done, I think it was mainly nerves and him trying to get a smooth seamless set. It's was also the bands return to gigging after a couple months.
I've only got one crappy pic to share. We're waiting on the high quality ones from the drummers brother who is rather handily a photographer!

EDIT: The joy of being a black guy in front a black background :meh:

Tell me more about this thing you called "tuning". I'm not familiar. Do I need a luthier? We've only got three hours, for crying out loud. Are any music stores open?!

Gig cancelled. Equipment failure. At least we didn't make fools of ourselves!

Just yesterday we had a low of 9degC and a high of 28degC....... And we get worse at times. I tune up every time i pick up an instrument. Doesn't matter what it is or where.
A bass will go out of tune a bit with as little as 5degC temp change. Doesn't matter how good the instrument is our how well the strings are broken in. I suppose it depends on how close you feel "in tune" actually is.

That's been my experience as well. My six-string guitars always seemed to need tuning between playing sessions, but my bass is remarkably stable.

I use one of those Snark tuners that clips onto the head stock. I can turn my volume knob down and check the tuning in less that 30 seconds. Why is this an issue for the guitarist, I wonder.
