I sell T-Birds at the NYC Guitar Center.As we have no suitable gig bags,I refer
my customers to GaryGear on Ebay.He has two gig bags for Explorer basses that
do fit well.One is 30mm and is well padded for $71 including shipping.I use these

Three little birds, two near mint bicentennials and an '07 zebrabird with lull/lollar combination. The natural '77 is new to me and sounds like a Steinway piano.

Yeah, Mark, same here..my two Bicentennials are very different animals. I would happily play the burst in a jazz trio, or a reggae band. It's an airy, transparent, deep sounding bass, with a just bit of that treble growl. The natural has a big piano attack and mid punch and I noticed it can eat a Marshall stack amp for breakfast.

Just wanted to say, last night i put some D'addario stainless steel strings, 45-105 on my Gibson Tbird. What a great sound. I think I found my strings for that bass.

On a side note. I will be sending the non-reverse back. I'm just not digging it. Really want to like the bass but I won't ever play it if I keep it, and that's a lot of money for decoration. I may get another Gibson T-bass instead.

I'm already #296 on here but haven't gotten around to post pics of the new NR Thunderbird I got last year. I think it was one of the very first burst finish ones shipped and it's a lot darker than another owned by a friend who's NR arrived the day before mine.

Other than lowering the bridge pickup a little bit, I haven't had to do anything to this bass and it sounds terrific. These have smaller headstocks and tuners than the NRs of 40 years ago, and so has almost no neck dive (to me, anyway) which may be why Gibson didn't relocate the strap button from the upper horn to the neck heel. It's a long bass but is still shorter than the BaCHs I have, which measure 51.5" over all.

Earlier in this thread or in the Thunderbird Club Part 5 someone asked why his new Pelham Blue sounded differently than he expected. I think the biggest single reason is that these are set neck T birds NOT through necks. Think of them as Studio NR Thunderbirds.

Hmmmm. I have two Bicentennials and they both sound exactly the same. They both have that big piano attack and mid punch. I think they sound great, and cut through a mix very well.

Welcome JackThe Ripper you're #373 here.
Gibson serial numbers are as follows
-First digit is the first number of the year
-Next three digits denote the calender day of the year, i.e. 002 = Jan 2
-Next digit is the second year digit

So your 2006 should have a 0xxx6
The rest of the digits indicate that day's production.
In 2006 Classic White was still a standard finish, it's no longer offered - so, of course everybody wants it! White Thunderbirds are badass Go forth and play it!
