Thunderbird Club

probably for some of the reasons I was mentioning…. both the Peavey and the GK (absolutely love GK stuff) both share DC coupled bipolar output stages…
I don’t have a clue about what you’re talking about, but I trust my ear. Are you saying an Ampeg SVT-VR does not have a DC Coupled bipolar output stage? And if that’s the case how would that particular design impact the sound I get out of the Cab?

From what I've read, on the internet somewhere, probably - Peavey SS watts are the best & most loudest kind :smug:
Not only are they the bestest watts, but like the Peavey gear the notes produced by those watts last forever.

Sooooo.......tone space then, izzit?

In that case, my Mark IV is almost all tone-space, on the inside.
Other than the one, big, super-heavy electrical doohickey, nothing but empty tone-space between the front & back panels :D

How many tubes will you need to equal that much tone-space? :eyebrow:
Kinda like ACC amps. Lots of tone space and really heavy transformers. And huge capacitors.

True, but they weigh a ton.

I remember the first time I tried to line up my new (to me) 410 and looked at the boot opening of my sedan….
But the guy that sold it to me said ‘no worries’ and he was correct it went in alright. So that was ok. Then I got home and it was decided my music room was upstairs….

Ended up all good, although I bought a station wagon next time around.?

speaking of hemispheres, gotta fly to the motor town tomorrow and will go to Windsor as well….cold?..
Depends upon what you think of as "cold". Spring has finally arrived (April was surprisingly cooler than normal this year). Expect something in the high teens, low 20s during the day (similar to room temperature). Cooler in the evening/over night, light jacket or sweater.

:roflmao:. That's why they sound so good. And they do. Warm compared to most SS amps.

Spring has finally sprung. You can get away with a light jacket from here on out and the weather this whole week is going to be awesome. No rain expected till the weekend.

How long are you in town, Chuck?

This was the model Ashdown I had for a while. Sounded surprisingly good once you figured out the EQ, which is a little different than most. Very warm for SS. Mine had that rat hair. If I saw one cheap, I'd likely buy it for the heck of it. The sub harmonics are the best I've ever heard. It was a great, affordable head. Don't know why they stopped making them.

I passed on a 900 evo a while back in favor of my Genz Benz shuttle. 7lb head is probably the only smart amp decision I have made.

I've played through their cabs before but never a head. The cabs were all really nice. Considered buying one. With all those knobs I'd likely freeze up figuring out what to do. Seems everyone that has those loves them. I would love to play through one. It wouldn't like it, but I would. Wonder why they (and other great amps) never really got as popular as they should have? I know the big names are something people chase. I like my Ampegs because of how they sound. I'd play a $100 Behringer if it sounded like I wanted.

I just put the knobs somewhere in the middle, and make sure some of the lights are on and not blinking angrily at me… has a foot pedal with like 4 switches and more lights…

flying back out late Wednesday…
you close to the Indigo Hotel?

Not close but not far either. A solid hour to downtown Detroit from my doorstep in Fenton. I'm leaving for Nashville on Wednesday morning with the wife but would be up for meeting up for dinner either today or tomorrow. Are you here alone?

I'll PM you my cellphone so we can text if you're so inclined. No pressure if your dance card is full or you just have too much going on in the short stay in town.
