I play my amp as much as my bass. I'd do it if I had to and would probably get used to it but would always want my amp in back of me.

I play my amp as much as my bass. I'd do it if I had to and would probably get used to it but would always want my amp in back of me.
They all have IEM's and I s'pose everything is EQ'ed how they want it then sent to the house's system. I ain't that sophisticated. I wanna hear my amp, my EQ.
They must but yeah, I'd want to hear my own amp but at that level I would shut up and do as I was told.....for a while.
I always try to stay on the good side of sound techs though, they hold a LOT of power and can make or break your sound.
If I may be so bold. Putting picks there on my 67 is what caused the the PG to crack around the end screw.
Bad habit, I've been doing that for at least forty years, I have one in probably every bass I own, I've never cracked a pickguard doing it though. I loosen the screws a little next to the pick.
Hmm. Maybe if I'd thought of that...
I do it because it's so easy to pull them out and put them back in, I alternate between fingers and pick usually.
Often bands have small amps and/or iso cabs or small combos off/behind the stage for that clean look. I like the stage to look like a music store with all kinds of interesting goodies to see. I could care less what a set designer and lighting person came up with.
Around '80, Journey was the first band I remember having no amps on stage.
YES! I bought an amp I like he sound of and I want to hear it. Possibly if I played every night I would start to care less. Maybe.

AFAIK and IIRC I rarely use acronyms. JMHO but I don’t get too worked up over them. I’m not a 13 year old girl with a phone glued to my hand so I occasionally have to hit google to figure out what they mean, like YOLO. YMMV.
And for the record, I have quite the assortment of hammers - my selection would be a Masonry Hammer.
I haven't played every night for a long time but think that would further cement my wanting to hear my own amp.
ticks me off when they have the nerve to "demand" pre instead of post-EQ line out signal...

That Plexi wasn't mine.
Was the guitar players in one of the bands i was in.
He was so happy with an AC-30 he had bought, i had free rein to The Marshall.
This is why i'm so gluttonous with my rigs.
And don't care if i'm a stay at home player for now.
I loaded/unloaded, an SVT stack for years on my own.
Never complained once about it. Actually enjoyed it.
Was an adrenaline rush. Usually there wasn't any house backline to play through anyway.
