One of these days it would be good to lay out all the hammers for a family photo. I think there's at least 10, maybe more. All different and for different purposes.LOL - who are you calling a YOLT
AFAIK and IIRC I rarely use acronyms. JMHO but I don’t get too worked up over them. I’m not a 13 year old girl with a phone glued to my hand so I occasionally have to hit google to figure out what they mean, like YOLO. YMMV.
And for the record, I have quite the assortment of hammers - my selection would be a Masonry Hammer.
Or the really pleasantly named dead-blow hammer.
That's a pretty wild looking drum kit, with what appears to be one rack tom, tow roto-toms, and a floor tom. No resonant head on the kick drum, but a whole lot of blanket in it. That's a lot of thump from that drum, and a lot of crack from the others if the rack and floor toms don't have bottom heads.Most likely he had Marshall heads and Marshall 4x12" loaded with EV speakers.

I hear you. If I could, I'd have several different rigs just for different flavors. Like having different basses. Even if I were to never play out again, when I play at home I still want to enjoy it. Otherwise, why play?
You love it. Enjoy it while you can. Had a close call with Grady this week. Thought he wasn't going to make it for a while. He's not back to his old dog normal, but is some better. Vet appt in the Am. He has fluid and congestive heart and lung issues and kidney problems, so everything is a balancing act that will just get worse like with Yogi a few months ago.

I use my Sansamp VT Deluxe as my DI, not the one on the head. It just goes to the PA and not into the head and sounds better than DI pre or post IMO. I can also adjust my head and not mess with what the sound guy is getting.
I'm getting concerned you've thought too much about this.Or maybe a dead blow hammer for max blunt trauma on the receiving end and minimum recoil on the user end.
Reminds me of the first time I used a rubber mallet. Just a teenager putting a stubborn hubcap (remember those) back on a friends car. The car was on a lift so the wheels were about face level, my buddy handed me a rubber mallet and said give it a good whack , it’ll go right back on. So I did. Much to my surprise, immediately after the hammer struck the wheel it came right back in my face, right between the eyes (two black eyes I might add). As I’m standing there dumbfounded he’s laughing his arse off. I got the last laugh though when I promptly walked the hammer over to a cutoff saw, cut the handle off and handed it back to him. We both learned a lesson that day.
Much appreciated, Ken. We certainly are. Never thought he'd still be around. He last dog friend around his age, but younger, passed away last week. Friends of ours. It's tough and as much as I love dogs, I don't want to go through this again.
