I've had to be the whole rhythm section a couple of times, but it was either because the drummer didn't show so we adjusted things (easier to do in church where we were always re-inventing how we played songs, anyway, than in a band playing well-known songs), or when the sound system went wonky. But I'm no Ox.

Did you read the article? He passed out twice, tackled Roger once and fell over backwards, passed out two minutes into We Won't get Fooled Again. The kid saved the day, I'm not even sure if he was a drummer.

You know it! :thumbsup: The Del Rey was refered to as the "Johnny Paycheck" bass. I think the reason he gravitated to it is because he was a height-compromised man and the Teisco was a short-scale bass but as long as a Fender Jazz bass. So it fit his fingers/reach better and looked 'big' - like a "real" bass. The trio version of my band plays A-11 and I sing lead.

He wrote some pretty bizarre songs - like this one...

I did. I knew the concert went on. I just hadn't realized they kept playing the song when he passed out. "Won't Get Fooled Again" - you know they had to be thinking about those lyrics in relation to Keith, at least a bit.

He was a pretty good bass player, I've watched some of his old videos, I opened for him once during the early 80's. I'd like to grab one of those basses, never knew they were short scales.

Busted out the newly picked up Acoustic 300 to run the 360 into my Sunn 2000s cab last night, first time running an all SS rig live in years. It sounded great, ran the T-bird for most of the set, switched to the Precision for Rush since we dropped it a whole step. The Thunderbirds and Acoustics pair really well together, there's just something that works in the low mids and low end with the Acoustics, big and full without and flub or rumble, and the T-bird takes full advantage of that.

edit.....maybe for a right-handed person that wants to look like they're playing a left-handed guitar upside down? The way left-handed folks do sometimes with right-handed guitars?

Little side step, thought i'd throw this in for any of us looking for a gig bag to carry our birds. Not affiliated with seller, ive purchased one for the tigerbird bass i had built which i'm giving to a friend of mine. Its a nicely padded bag, lots of pockets. My built bass is spector size & fits the gig bag. Any epiphone & gibson would fit too.

Miss a couple days and there is a mountain to climb. Please point me to anything that's a must read, otherwise I'm not going to try to get caught up. It's been an exhausting two days. We were getting ready for church and my wife's sister called and said their mother was in cardiac arrest at home. I met them at the hospital, but there was nothing that could be done to save her after 20-30 minutes or so. It was unexpected and which adds to the shock. I feel so badly for Sandra and can't do a thing really. I told her I don't think I ever felt so helpless. All this as we were approaching the first anniversary of her dad's passing in June. I got along great with my MIL, so there's no regrets or bad blood there as is often the case. (Please no need to comment, we all know such things are a real challenge and feel for others who go through such a time. Pick up a Thunderbird and enjoy life while you can.)

Be a bit if a stretch for an Epi VP at 51 and a bit inches. I have the factory hard case, but use an 88 note keyboard bag
