Thunderbird Club

LOL - that was the model (ok maybe the Pacer was right there with it) that made me realize AMC had jumped the shark.
Something you may (or may not) appreciate, I’m a Huge Bond fan. As such, it was a shock to me that the Matador made its way into a Bond movie (Man with a Golden Gun) as a flying car no less. One more reason I generally (with a few exceptions) wasn’t as fond of the Roger Moore era of Bond (of course Timothy Dalton is right there with him).

Yes, we're all Bozo's on this bus. ;) That would be the AMC Hornet - SeaJay at Winters owns one like it; orange with a white vinyl top.

The Hornet stunt was bad enough (car selection, loud mouth fat belly cop, sliding whistle sound effect, dialogue) but then they topped it off with the Villain escaping in an AMC Matador that ducked into a barn where it transformed into a Jet airplane.

...that too... but it had fine Corinthian leather! That car/scene is the height of '70s camp. Roger Moore (as JB), CBS/Fender, cynical artwork emanating out of NYC, horrendous architecture and finally Ronald Reagan destroyed so much credibility in the US in the late '70s -'80s. Luckily they all survived the on-slot. (some more than others...)

So, friday night pic.

Today took my EB3, and took the opportunity to pose with an SG parts built
Actually a friend gave to me... was in bad shape, really trashed.
Took almost one year to me decide what to do with her, and sent it to refinish in chameleon painting (green, purple, and some little pink variations).
I will be looking at a Gibson SG tomorrow. Guitar, not bass. I really like the way yours looks.

If I buy that guitar, the VP will go on CL. $550 locally ought to work with one finish ding and no case. But that remains to be seen. I am just not bonding with it at all.

I think that there was a fair bit of AMC product placement in that movie.

But how can you deny the brilliance of that car chase?? Nothing like a slide whistle to accentuate a chase.

Almost as good as the Diamonds are forever car chase...
