Thunderbird Club

I always wondered if the rear wing actually did anything.

Yes, but only above 150 MPH, roughly. There was even an adjustment to fine-tune the angle. This car (and the Daytona) was so good NASCAR banned them.

Yeah, mostly just good for the track...and then only the fast ones.

The wing on the 'birds & Daytonas were originally meant to be much shorter, since that was all that was needed - until they discovered they couldn't open the trunk. :roflmao: :rollno:

So, they made it just tall enough for the trunk lid to clear....

And finally the Chinabuckers are out and Thunderbuckers are in the Flamingo. I put the 66N in the neck and 66S at the bridge instead of the other way around like I was thinking about. It sure has a lot more authority and a bigger voice now. EBCF silks are purple. I am shallow. It is a message that the Flamingo should always have EBCFs on it. The pixie dust '01 will always have Black Beauties on it most likely, although I have a set of Dragon Skins to try.
Would sure like some before and after audio...

I didn't record it. So it goes. You heard it at Veronica's I think. Or did you head out? I don't remember who went back for the 'Bird comparison and who didnt.

I was there before the dinner, not after. 8^/

I mainly remember that after the early bird and the Greco, everything else (no matter how awesome it was), was not quite as good.

WARNING FSO TALK/RANT
I remember about 5-10 years ago, you could not give away a 70’s 7ender. They’d be $1500 max. I was just going through the classifieds to see what’s out there these days, and 70’s 7enders are now $3000-5000 and selling!!! What the fvck?!

Well, when a beat to snot 62 is going for over $20K...

Thinking of buying another set of SIT Power Steels and Dunlop Super Bright Steels that are in a cart for good prices. Any thoughts on the Dunlops? How do they compare/contrast with Roto 66s for example. I know @MCF speaks highly of them.

GHP Precision Flats were meh on the NR live. Not bad, just not interesting enough.

I loved Dunlops on my 750 Interceptor. Fantastic cornering, and did fine on the stupid wavy concrete rain cuts.

Uh, no. And those Kustoms were massive cabs. I actually thought I wanted one back in the day. Took three guys to load and unload. I had a Kasino 2x15 and two of us could barely load and unload the thing.
Ya mean this(currently sitting ~20' to my left)?[my practice amp]

I vividly remember people here on TalkBass slagging 70's 7enders and proclaiming that nothing would ever convince them to buy one because they were all heavy and they sucked. I am willing to bet that some of those people currently own a 70's 7ender.
Very true, even of me. My '71 is light, unlike later 70s I've played and the neck pocket is too large, as are many I've owned and played. To me it's kind of, "it is what it is" and expected. The flaw for me was the pickups for much of that time. I knew so many people yanking them out and using a replacement. I did. But all that was when replacements seem to really be gaining steam.

I gave up on trying to keep up. I just go to the last page whenever I come to this forum.

I do feel less connected to the discussions taking place both TBird and non-TBird related but I just can't commit the time to try and keep up.

Good luck, Jeff.

An advantage(?) of being retired with nothing better to do.:smug:

It's what your model trains are for!
Check out this cool 3-D printed car side I've been working on, the green one.
