It's what your model trains are for!
Check out this cool 3-D printed car side I've been working on, the green one.

Random Ibanez......I used to own.

Cool, an IbbyGibby!
Hadn’t seen one before. I assume it wasn’t on par with the Greco or you’d still have it.

PS - some neat boxcar bench work there. Do you have the 3D printer or do you shop that work out?

The Ibanez was "OK" not great, the Greco creamed it, though they were quite obviously from the same factory. The boxcar sides came from Shapeways, don't know if you're familiar with them, there's tons of really cool model train stuff there.

played a gig on Sat that I took my Greco and a P Bass to. rig was an Ashdown Evo II into a MB 2 x 12 with a 2” driver..
started the set with the Greco….sounded phenomenal…..later strapped on the P for the second set….what a mistake, had to go back to the Greco….truly, a no-contest..

They're just THAT GOOD!

They really get you very close to the real deal at a fraction of the cost.

Yes indeed. The equivalent would be a Holden Commodore SS.

Holden, like Pontiac and Oldsmobile etc, is a dead brand now. Sadly.

I have the V6 version of the 2017 version (like the Chev SS) but a wagon.

I toyed with trading the G8 in on a new Impala SS 6.2L when they first came out. I wanted a 6 speed, when I bought the G8 they were all 6.0L with 6 speed automatics and the GXP's with the 6.2 and 6 speed tranny were not out and I don't think I even knew they were going to make them or I may have waited.

Very true, even of me. My '71 is light, unlike later 70s I've played and the neck pocket is too large, as are many I've owned and played. To me it's kind of, "it is what it is" and expected. The flaw for me was the pickups for much of that time. I knew so many people yanking them out and using a replacement. I did. But all that was when replacements seem to really be gaining steam.

My first new bass was a 1970 Precision bought on layaway with case for 250 bucks, I worked in a sweatshop all summer to pay for it. It was a sunburst, w covers, mute and flats. It was a nice bass until I got my 17 year old hands on it, within two weeks of owning it it had slid out of my hands and down the cellar stairs on it's back onto the concrete floor. It took an hour and a half to reach the bottom .

I gave up on trying to keep up. I just go to the last page whenever I come to this forum.

I do feel less connected to the discussions taking place both TBird and non-TBird related but I just can't commit the time to try and keep up.

Good luck, Jeff.

I just make sure I don't miss a day, you then usually only have two or three pages to go through, some very interesting stuff here though and it always gets back around to T-Birds.

Flew to India and when I got there had 10 pages to go through. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned I was getting on a flight...

Man, that must have been a long flight. When I fly to and from Lima to Boston there's no direct flight so I always end up in Miami for a few hours, usually takes about 12 hours with the layover.

Very easy to believe.
Not a Jazz fan here, but I do like a good P bass and through an Evo II and 212 I’m sure it sounded great, that’s a deep creamy smooth head and nice punchy cab - but - as good as that sounded I’m positive the Greco sounded even better. Of course the guy behind the strings has a bit to do with it as well. :D

What strings are you sporting on your Greco these days? I have newish Boomers on my Greco IV and ancient TI’s or Roto Flats on my Greco II. Love em both but will need to restring some day.

Very accurate and funny description of an instrument falling.

I rarely check in on the weekends so there's a bunch on Monday morning and when I'm out of town and not on a desktop at work, I rarely check-in. I'm fairly confident that the forum does just fine without my input. :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Yes, door to door SFO to BLR, arrive 2 hours early, 2 flights, clear customs, arrival covid testing, taxi...about 36 hours.

P.S. 12.5 or 13.5 hour time difference depending on time of year...

I was playing it on the phone to my then girlfriend using the phone as a contact microphone, of course she couldn't hear it anyway and with trying to juggle the phone and playing it at the same time it slipped. i used to sit on top of the cellar stairs in my parents kitchen with the door shut so no one could listen to my conversations, i wore out at least one phone cord. I have a lot of stories like that, my dual Showman cab falling out of a pickup truck going up a hill landing on it's back so all the speaker screws pulled through the baffle board, a BORROWED Super Beatle amp falling off a roof during a drunken gig.
Playing a 15-20 minute jam song with a Hell's Angel drummer who just banged the snare over and over again and couldn't keep a beat to save his life, but none of us were going to kick him off the stage . They did force the bartender to give out free drinks to everyone though. Being a kid and playing in a band was a lot of fun though.
